Disable Https scanning on Avast?

I just installed Firefox Portable and on most https websites on Firefox (Chrome worked fine), I received an error saying "Error code: sec_error_bad_signature." I googled this problem, which has to do with validation of certificates, and could not fix it. On Avast, I disabled HTTPS scanning and now it is fixed. Can I leave this option disabled? If not, how can I fix the Firefox error that I received?

If an earlier version worked with Avast, it might be a change to Avast during the intervening time since you last had them working together.
Perhaps the Avast forums might have info about any conflicts with programs like Firefox Portable..?

Others had reported many bugs on the latest version but I tried the version prior and it still gave me this error. No one has reported this specific error in the Firefox Portable forums but I made a thread out of curiosity. I used Firefox Portable before (had to delete it because of corrupt sessions) and it was working fine (latest version) without me having to turn off https scanning, so hopefully something can by done by Firefox's end (unless turning off https scanning is not a big deal).

Have you checked the Firefox forums to see if this is a common problem with the portable version..?
Since it doesn't register info in the local registry, it's possible the portable version is causing Avast to detect https sites as being unreliable since it can't find registered certificates for them.
There may be no practical solution to the problem other than turning off the https scanning as you've done.

Yea, I read the same thing but the latest version of FF portable still has this problem. I'll wait to see if the next version will have the problem if I enable HTTPS scanning. Thanks.

Okay, so I read that the latest version of ff (not portable) doesn't have this problem. If for whatever reason you strongly prefer using ff portable, then keep that option disabled. If you want, you could just enable it when you're doing private browsing like online banking.
