I'm surprised its not illegal yet for manufactures to rip off customers with a 1.5 grand laptop which shouldn't cost more than $600.
LOL don't pay 1.5k on a laptop. You can get one that runs MS and is great for schoolwork for 1/3 of that. Also who in their right mind spends $150 on a gaming mouse? I got my 2400DPI with programmable buttons and all that for $12.
That mouse must be from radioshack or Target and only 2400DPI? Average is 5-6K Anything less feels like a fat girl sat on my hand

In my opinion, use about 1.3k for a laptop and leave about 150 for a mouse. Even if you're not gaming, a gaming mouse is worth the money. Only people who hasn't used a good gaming mouse wouldn't recommend one, but those who do can't go back to the 400-800 dpi mouse. In case you're wondering why, the difference between the two is a twitch of your fingers muscle to move the mouse across the screen vs swinging your arms to move it 10 character space across.

If you want nothing fancy, cut the amount spent from 1.5K to less than half of that. Anything i5 and above will run you fine just to play maple and school work. Though if you're getting a laptop, consider an SSD otherwise forget it cause HD's typically are garbage that come pre installed the laptop, and if you want snappy load times, an SSD is your best friend in every aspect. Ideally 8GB ram is the new standard along with 256GB SSD + or just get a Macbook pro since that comes with everything preloaded for only 1.3K which isn't bad either and it'll run maple like a champ. Another alternative is building a monster computer with that 1.5K and being able to run max settings on any game nearly leaving maple not worth playing. That's the best alternative and option with the money youre willing to spend if you arent mobile lugging around a laptop.

Acer Aspire S7

It's what I use. Light, and strong enough for maple, so it's useful for school.
Outdated programs have issues with its high DPI though such as Matlab, SolidWorks, etc.

@iPotential: Yeah it's really thin and light which is why i like it and it runs very smoothly too. I would also drop a few hundred bucks on some software like a good antivirus, maybe and adobe suite, and a microsoft office for student for the complete experience.
@jessy0245: I own and am using an acer aspire right now and I can tell you that it is not a good buy. The hardware build quality is just too poor on the laptop. Keys get stuck all the time and even the mouse pad gets stuck, not to mention screws falling out the bottom and battery life deteriorating extremely quickly. Also, laptop size matters a lot. The lenova thinkpad is only 0.7" thick, and is very light, and sports a 256 gb ssd instead of a 1 terrabyte hardrive, which is significant in boot up times, etc. considering he's a student, he won't need too much space (and if he does, externals can be used as storage) since he'll probably have mostly processing documents and mb a few programs like eclipse if he's into coding. The lenova thinkpad may seem outdated, but constantly performs well. He says he only plays MS, so graphics card doesn't matter as the way MS is coded, your graphics card doesn't really matter since MS can't take full potential of it anyways.

Oh, gawd. Please don't even think of getting that laptop. It's outdated and over priced. $1500 for that?
I would go for something like this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314820
Great price.
Nice and sleek design.
Has a dedicated graphics card(In case you decide to game on it one day).
Doesn't really look like a "gaming" notebook.

Or something like this is you would like to save some more but not take away any performance except the graphics cards
I've found that desktops usually work better for maplestory (less stutter lag regardless of ram for some reason) but I would recommend

Just because I like thinkpads They look really professional when you use one and have pretty good build quality.
