This is correct, we cygnus knights get a huge damage 'increase' on elemental bosses in comparison to others since most other classes do not even have a single skill that ignores part of the bosses' resistance. The only other way to ignore some of this defence is to increase your insight or to get a dawn warrior to use his threaten like skill for you.
