Trying to remember a book
About 2-3 weeks ago I was looking for new books to buy. I came across one with a plot that was so similar to my life, but was unable to buy it because someone else had took the last copy while I was busy trying texting. ;(
The main character's parents had to move back to an Asian country ( I forgot which one). Her sister had disappeared before they could move. If I remember correctly, the author began the novel with a description of their garden, and the cold weather.
The author was I think an Asian American writer, but I am unsure.
Can anyone help identify the book I am looking for? Thanks.

@iYanMe: oh btw sorry if u lost someone ><. Dreams of joy is the sequel to shanghai girls so make sure you read that one first , shanghai girls is good but not much people like it cus the ending is sad but dreams of joy looks promising.
