Boss Damage Question

Hello everyone!

I have a question which I think many might be wondering too? How much boss damage is too much? I've been told 250%+ is more than enough, but after thinking about it, wouldn't the more be merrier? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

nobody would play it if didnt progress

OT: I find around 260-300% boss is sufficient enough. You also gotta count in boosts of % total dmg (% boss and total dmg is the same thing) and % total boss from link skills, hypers, skills etc, so in total with those you should have close to 300 for optimality, after that go for % atk purely.
At one point for many classes, 250% Boss damage will grant you enough to cap on most bosses, which is why most people say past that is unnecessary. If you raise your actual range beyond the 2m~2m visual cap, your boss damage would become less and less necessary. For example, If I was hitting 40m on regular mobs, I wouldn't even need more than 50% boss damage to cap on most bosses.
it's not this simple. you could hit 40m on regular mobs, and with 50% boss damage hit zeroes on chaos pink bean.

"how much boss damage is too much" is entirely dependant on your current amount of total damage, %PDR ignore, enemy being fought, and %attack. without this info nobody will ever be able to give you an accurate statement.

*Facepalm*
If you were hitting 40m per line, it is very likely that you would need more than 50% boss. Your boss damage alone isn't proportional to your damage output.
The reason why people prefer %atk over boss damage at some point has to do with your Boss dmg + total dmg vs %atk ratio. It becomes more efficient to cube for %atk when you reach higher levels of %boss.

OT: The best way to figure this out is to calculate it on your own, the variations due to differences in class and equipment make it hard to make a general rule for this. Just remember that (100 + %atk) and (100 + %total(includes skills) + %boss) are proportional to DPS.

It depends on a lot of factors. Most people say 250-300%, but I've done a ton of calculations on this, and under most circumstances, assuming you have at least ~20% att, it's best to actually have more around 300-350%. Though it also depends on a lot of other things. If you have no %att, but you have like 300% boss, you're going to need some more %att to even it out. Also, if you have a lot of %TD, you don't want as much %boss because they're additive.
