Special Mastery Book

I was wondering what would be the best MB to get from the Tempest Shop's Special Mastery Book. Right now I'm leaning towards Berserk, but I don't know if I want to get DI instead. And just for good measure, I'm still at 3rd job, so no points into 4th job skills (naturally).

Any help is appreciated!

tail shows when you use buster, not berserk.

getting coins might be a bit tedious, but hey, cheaper and easier (and more guaranteed) than trying to get 50% books to pass no? and as the saying goes, if while training you find yourself using sacrifice, you're not training at the right place (or variations of the saying)

Sure you can. Gale Gourd, Maple Board Game, 200 monsters, Pink Zakum, Crystal Chests, Tempest Boxes etc. there are so many ways to get coins.

Sac gets a 31-60% damage increase but isn't even used a quarter of the time while training.

we rarely use sac while training. and at 100, training > bossing, hence the usage of DI over sac.

OT: honestly 83 coins aren't too hard to farm with pink zakum giving 5 per run, and if you afk a bit too, i think you can hit it in a week.

but if you really don't want to farm them, i do suggest what @Plusle4eva said. Grab Zerk MSMB, do quest lines for free mystery mastery books and pray for DI20. And at worst, go to the FM to grab it; mastery book prices have dropped a lot due to the coin shop

@Kanji: nope, the animation remains the same throughout. You only get a color change from orange to purple, as do your buster and fury attacks.

You can totally buy more than 1 MSMB, by the way.

Generally speaking, get the book of the first skill you get to level 30 (own preferences, guides etc.). But since you already have DI30, you might want to reconsider. But either way, you'd still need to buy another book for a chance for it to raise your DI to 30. MSMB gives you a 100% chance but you'll have your DI30 just lying there. So, with DI30 in your hands, it's more of a question of DI20 vs MSMB.

Must note that the "Zerk first because DI only boosts itself" argument isn't very strong because the only skill you use is DI anyway 8D.

@pulpit: OHHHH. That's why I see different spark colors! Haha... I didn't know

Thought I remembered some thread a long time ago stating this...

I checked it out, but I wanted a few more opinions before I made a final decision. Btw, I heard Zerk's animation changed over time? And before, the spark animation would create a tail behind the char? o.o
Whatever gave you that idea? No, we just get sparks that change colour when we hit 150. The tail came from Buster.

And I seriously want more maximum crit attack...
Obligatory wild push to the guides.

Jokes aside, considering you already have DI30, it's better to get Berserk. It's harder to find while DI20s probably fall out of the sky in drk mmbs (there's questlines that shove them in your face; SC/LHC)

@iluvme: and as much as I love stance (bby dont leave me), you should have raised zerk to threshold at least
All right, I'll go with the Berserk book, then, unless someone can convince me otherwise. I already have DI30, I just need DI20, but I don't know how pricey that is in YMCK
