IGN bots, I hate em
Like a lot of players, I'm really excited about millons of usernames being freed up, and thanks Nexon for that. But, like most players, I'm really worried that people using clientless bots, will just avoid the patch and take a large portion of the IGNs (especially highly sought after ones), as they do now pre-character name change patch. Is there any way for Nexon to do something about this, cause I have a list of names I want to get, but I don't think it would be possible with situation as is now.

@alesanah: Client-less botting is a way to run Maplestory without the use of going through the launcher, and is for the most part is script based, and there is also many ways to have Maplestory updated to the most recent patch, so you don't need to install the patch when it is released. So, those who have access to a client-less bot will be able to not only bypass the client not loading, but also the patch, so they will be able to snipe IGNs before the public would. Thankfully, Client-less bots are few and far in between.
and you know whats funny, even if they do get banned. the igns that we were trying to go after will get banned as well, like most are right now, essentially, it'll be the same as it was before the patch lol.
@joblessjim: thru the use of pckets they're able to snipe igns I believe, and apparently they can avoid patching as well. Unfortunately, I don't know the mechanics behind it.
@uwotm9: ya men...even if u get caught bans aint big deel. perm bans arent even perm..i just got un perm ban wut da?!
@joblessjim: yeahhhh i'm not sure how this is even possible either. Unless people are able to somehow hack nexon itself, turn their servers on, and... steal igns?

@eeekks: Not really educated much on the subject, but how exactly can they operate without a client? that doesn't make much sense to me. And also, the op mentions they are able to bypass the patch, which would be the inherent issue; how is that possible? Wouldn't they need the update?
if bots can camp expiring land plots / housing and farming areas in Archeage and get it within 0.1th of a second you have absolutely no chance on maple to get a decent IGN

@joblessjim: theyre bots that don't need the clients open, so they can open up hundreds of bots and it won't kill their computer
