What book did I read?

A couple years ago I read a fictional book about a person who was hit on the head and he somehow traveled in the past, in the English times, he fooled people into thinking he was a magician because he did things like predict eclipses that he knew were going to happen, he did something about a well and a bomb in it or something and then at the end he returns back to the future and discovers that he didn't really time-travel

I can't remember the name of the book but if anyone knows I'd be grateful
