Can someone explain Gold Richies Safe Event?

I've read the event and I have asked guildies but I am still confused on how the event works. I know you hunt monsters around your level for figurines which you use to guess the password. But how can you tell which numbers you choose in the password were correct? My guildie said you listen to the end noise for clicks to tell if it was right, but another guildie said it makes the same noise for every combination. Also if someone figures out the password is it the same for everyone else? Like can it be shared or does everyone get their own random code?

Hackers are gonna win this even due to their farming the trophies constantly. They can easily rake up 10k in a day or two of botting and actually spend an hour or two playing and guessing the combo from 0001,0002,0003,0004,etc. up to 9998,9999!
I entered all important maplestory dates.
Such as big bang update, job introductions etc.
I farmed 50 figuirnes so far.
Waste of 2x xp time
I'm pretty sure it's 4 random digits and not related to MS.
No way. That formula doesn't take into account that some numbers can be repeated and that the order is important.
How so? You can only have a number between 0000 and 9999 can't you? Thats only 10000 numbers, including the permutations (1234 is different to 1324 or 1243 etc) so how do you get over 1 million?

Edit: whoops, didn't ssee your last post, sorry
Huh, but it DOES take into account that a number can be repeated.
Each digit in the code is independent of the previous digit so there are 10 possible choices of digits for each of the 4 slots. That's 10^4.

We're literally guessing out of the numbers 0000-9999. That's 10,000 different choices.
You are right lol I made a mistake lol its 10 000 pos. I inverted the numbers like a dummy : the real calculation is like you said 10^4
Still too much o.O

Or think of it this way...
All I know is that this is the number of possibilities : 1 048 576.
And that I don't like that number so I won't do this event. Thanks
To hunt 1 million figurines for some cheesy tyrant belt... Oh Nexon
How is it that?
Isn't it just 10*10*10*10 = 10000 possibilities?
you will have no idea what number is correct. i think the number resets to a random one after someone guesses it. and the odds of you guessing it is about 1/10000 or .0001%
