I buy Asus cos my brother told me they were good. They will last if you take care of them...sadly, I learned that the hard way
You should consider the MSI GE62 series. It's slightly pricier (about $999 on Amazon) but it'll run most things on high settings. Also if you're going into engineering, it'll handle anything that comes your way (Creo, MATLAB, Python, etc)
thats actually pretty good, ive always had great experience with asus and the specs are pretty good for a laptop considering it's not a 1000$+ gaming laptop
