Anyone know where I can get free digital college books?

I'm in need of textbooks, but they're hella pricey. Before I go into renting books, I want to consider all of my options. Is there a site or a torrenting site for college books? The book I desperately need right now is Eric foner give me liberty, fourth edition volume 1.

@magicalimage: Depending on what the course is, a lot of times it can be acceptable, even if the professor may say no, although in the end it's your call. Some textbooks may not actually have any real changes - they may just be putting out new editions that only have some cosmetic modifications in order to profit more off of them (as they don't gain anything from used textbooks), all at the students' expense of them having to buy said new editions.

However, if there has been a long, extended amount of time that has lapsed between editions and the field your course specifically deals with has rapidly changed over those years, with new research and old research and concepts having to be discarded as a result, it is best that you get the new edition.

@garrettshot: It managed to find a second edition of the book. I'll ask the professor if it's acceptable. Thanks.

@readers: Much thanks. Unfortunately, irc wasn't able to find the book, but I will be using for the other five books. As for the site you recommended, no luck there as well. But thanks for helping out, really appreciate it.

^ Above link is via IRC.
Or: A quick search on reddit or Google (if you do a specified search) will give you plenty of websites. I don't want to link them here, however, as some of them carry the risk of containing pop-ups/spyware/viruses. You may look to torrents as well at your own risk.
An example of one that I know doesn't contain viruses (and is legal): http://www.gutenberg.org
