Anime

Just another anime thread

I've been watching anime on and off for the past two years now, and I can say that it has been an awesome ride. It was the first time I had ever cried/ laughed intensely/ reflected/ pondered about my own values/ grossed out after watching a T.V show. So basil, what are some of your anime experiences? And heck, how about some of your favouries?

Mine are:
Spice and Wolf I/II
Angel Beats
Clannad
Clannad After Story
High School of the Dead
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Fullmetal Alchemist
Boko no Pico
Seitokai No Ichizon
Summer Wars
Gundam 00
Fate/Stay Night
And tons more I can't remember.

@tsuyoka: I don't play VNs much because they're time-consuming, so my favorites are (in no particular order, some aren't on the chart since it's slightly outdated):

Little Busters!
Steins;Gate
Saya no Uta
Majikoi
Clannad
Katawa Shoujo
Baldr Force and Baldr Sky
Fate/Stay Night
Cross Channel
G-Senjou no Maou
Sharin no Kuni
Kira Kira

I think Fate/Zero has a different setting. I never watched fate/stay night and was able to enjoy the anime.
@yumtoast154: I suppose the epic showing of his skill compensated a little for the awkardness in the beginning of the episode... maybe. I also liked archer's. His move is beast. I'd say the strongest would be berserker, he was able to easily defend against archer's strongest move, and was only beaten for being caught off-guard. I'm hoping the main character has something better under her sleeves than a wind sword though. That's too weak.
Would I have to have watched fate/stay night prior to understand cuz some or most of the plot I have forgotten.
@MagykFist:
I love how anime is done. So when I see bad anime, or not good enough, I just don't like it. So yes, I hold extremely high expectations. Although it's kind of sad, when sometimes I find myself enjoying bad or those not good enough anime. I just love how anime is done, by that I mean how they allow multiple character development. They're not always linear, allowing development of other stuff instead of just the main characters and plot. This allows variation in everything if the anime is good and done well. Along with their abilities to have multiple genres and themes, not stuck to one like most books are.
I guess we kind of think alike in the fact that we enjoy the way anime is done. Except it's that I don't really have high standards, do if I find an anime that was meh and I didn't enjoy, like lucky star, I'll just watch til the end and think nothing of it.
Overall, I found this anime to be very entertaining. I don't think the ecchi in the first episode was necessary though, or the awkward dialogue episode near the end.
The story is arguably weak: the whole premise is for these people to fight each other to obtain the Grail, something which will allegedly grant anyone their wish. But there's something about it, maybe the epic fight scenes, the rich scenery, or the interesting use of historical characters, which made me interested in the anime.
+ I found the opening and ending theme by LiSa (not a typo btw) to be very catchy.
Rider's antics were the best.

Sugita Tomokazu and Kamiya Hiroshi are god-tier VAs, which is why I like almost every title they have MC roles in.

Also, you have good taste OP. Not everybody can enjoy the magnificence that is Pico.
I wouldn't say that I enjoyed it, but I didn't really hate it either. It is something I would like to forget about as I watched it with my best friend. It was kinda an enjoyable experience I guess.
You watched it with a friend? lololol

OT: Gintama and Nichijou are the best things ever
The amount of awkward silence in that room when we were watching it, I don't think a mere word can describe it.
Eh, most anime I saw were crap, most anime are crap. Really, only a handful of good ones. Some are passable, but to me, if they're not good, they might as well be crap. I have no middle, just a good and bad side.
Is it because you have such high expectations of anime, or that you are busy and only can devote your time to the best of anime that you developed his mindset?
