Kanna

How viable is it to level without a ton of funding?

I was wondering if it would be doable to level a Kanna to around 120-ish with very little funding, basically meaning I'd only be able to afford pots since mage gear is so expensive. I know it's possible, but would be it be bearable? Cause I'm leveling a Xenon to 100+ at the moment and I've been using any and all spell traces I find to increase his gear so that I don't really need a lot of funding to be able to kill things pretty quickly, plus I plan on hopefully selling those items later on. However I notice that Kanna didn't really get any big changes to their damage meaning they're still not up there with the other Mage classes. I mean I enjoy the fact that I don't need to spend a ton of money on MP pots since they don't have Mana, however the thing is that if their damage isn't decent then leveling would be very slow since I don't buy NX (no $$ or mesos) meaning no 2-3x exp cards for me.
So, basically the point is, can I level a Kanna to around 120 with very little funding and do it so that I'm not spending 10-20 seconds trying to kill 1 creature.
@SilverFoxR It used to be very hard to be unfunded actually. You couldn't level unless you were funded due to everyone KSing you at every map. But yeah leveling is quite easy. Got to level 60 it's just super slow because I got high last night and while leveling I had no idea what I was doing cause I was watching TV instead of doing anything.
The problem with being "KSed all the time" was because you'd try to train at the "popular" map instead of finding a good alternative.

For example, Coolie Zombies were the "big" map for oldschool maplers from about 60+ (as they were about lv 70 at the time) and their maps had good spawn rates. However, so many people went there that large-scale KS wars were commonplace. Hermits, Dark Knights and Priests (if you can believe it) would go to these maps and just force anyone they could out.

I never trained there. Instead, I mob hunted Hectors. Yeah, they didn't give quite as much exp and you'd have the odd KSer kill as they ran through to Zombies, but the exp/hour was comparable (10% an hour... which in those days was considered good).

Eventually, Forest of Golem came out, which was bad for KSing too, but more people co-operated, taking one of the 3 levels to train on (in reality, there were 4 levels, but the top two were so small, they were given to one person... usually mages or melee classes, as ranged classes couldn't fight at close range yet in the game).

Maps became much more varied and KSing became less and less of an issue... until the Pendergast Mansion came out, of course... I'm very glad they revamped that place.

What does the Mutant Snail familiar do? Restore HP or something?
Also I just got my Kanna to 100 the other night. It took me awhile but I did it. My Kanna is mainly for Kishin because I personally don't feel like pouring out a ton of funding for it.

Super easy for kanna considering you need minimal pots. I used a single mutant snail for the big grinds. mp3 and ghost ship 6 are great grind maps. GS6 especially since your aura hits the bottom when you stand on top.

Pfft. It's easy. I did it without funding or scrolls/spell traces. When you get to about level 70 or so, go do R&J PQ - you're going to be beating party requests off with a stick the moment you walk in. Everyone wants your Kishin Shokan's passive ability to increase spawn rate that it's insane. And, of course, using that skill helps you train even on your own, since it's a constant AoE damage skill that, like I said, increases enemy spawn rate.

As for equips, that won't be an issue either. Tot gives free equipment up to level 60 and, if you really need to, you can purchase lv 70 equips in some places (like Ariant). Once you get into R&J PQ, you'll find equipment to replace those as well.

Honestly, it's not hard to be unfunded nowadays... not like it ever was...

@Chepfer I don't have a Kanna just yet. I used to have a level 100+ Kanna on another account but the account got banned due to a glitch in the game causing it to think I was hacking. I was afk and in NLC away from anything that could hit me, I come back and do 1 jump when my game disconnects and I get a thing on the account saying I've been banned for hacking but it turns out it was something others were experiencing way back in the day. No idea what caused it to this day, but I didn't regret it because it only had like 1mil on it and I could just level it back but I was curious cause I don't know how good Kanna's are anymore since I hear everyone hating on Hayato.

Got my Kanna to 120 with no funding. I just gave it all the level 0 equipments I had at first, and later the 6% tradable INT items I had at lvl 75.

Yeah, Kanna's kill maps fairly quickly, once ou get to 3rd job, Tengu and Kishin are your friend, also make sure to put a fan on Haku for a nice buff.
I didn't fund my Kanna at all till ~140ish, and I had no problems.
