Ignore the people saying "quit". Honestly guys... A new player is asking for advice, he hasn't even played the game yet and your already telling him to quit. If you think this game is such a downfall, stop playing and stop influencing people who want to give this game an actual shot. Yea sure maybe you thought/think this game is crap, millions of others don't. If this game is as bad as you believe, he'll see it himself and quit. For all we know he may enjoy the game like many others do.

On topic: Personally I find thief classes to be the most fun, but since you're rather new, it might be a challenge to start out as a thief since they require alot of funding to compete with other classes. I would probably suggest some sort of mage (Ice lightning mage, or fire poison) or one of the warrior classes (loved playing as a dark knight). Ignore the people saying quit the game, give it a try

If I was the one who was previously in need of help, as i came back after 2 years, could i help as much as the professional "maplers," i could help with mere advice, but truth be told, i was, and still am in need of help in this game, however, i've seen colder players now, all just focusing on their damage range, apologies to the thread-maker, i suggest a zero, or a nightwalker, when they come out. Windarcher is fun as well. In order of recommendation. Many aren't considered maplers anymore, after what i have seen, coming back from 2 years.

classes. Play explorer. They are the most versatile and have many sub branches that have their own playstyle.

for weapons, dont buy them from npcs. level 20-60 equipment can be gotten for free. 70-100 equipment can be dropped from monsters. and 100+ you can get free equipment from doing evolution system with weapon cores and also by doing monster park extreme.
