Hey, I don't know if you still have this problem or not xP but you don't need to kill empress. I also had no clue with my 190 nw, but turns out you just have to look at the light bulb icon and you'll be able to talk to shinsoo whatsoever ._.

Can any basilers verify killing Empress would let me talk to Shinsoo ~?

IIRC shinsoo was not in that map when I tried the quest in KMS. I completed the quest in the normal ereve map by talking to the shinsoo in that map. If you're willing to risk 50m try to forfeit the quest and try again. Might not have to pay the meso again since but still might be risky that way.
If not, did you leave ereve and come back only to find ereve still that map?

Oh yes you bet it is.
I just went there on my Dual Blade and the "OLD" map with the gaint shinsoo is definitely there.
You said it only changed after a certain level, which I believe, might only affect the Cygnus Knight after they completed a certain quest.

As of today, I went there on my Dual Blade. The map still remains the same to me.
I never have had a high enough level Cygnus Knight to confirm whether what you're saying is true or not but if not.

Pre-Big Bang is probably pushing it too far. As far as I know, the "OLD" map is still fine and intact since the last time I visit on my Dual Blade.
Which was definitely not 4-5 years back.

BEFORE you reach that level and BEFORE the event takes place in which Ereve is attacked you will get the OLD MAP.

As I said before, I haven't been actively playing MapleStory lately so call me ignorant, because I certainly am.

If my memory didn't fail me. I remember logging in my Cygnus Knights a few days ago (after the latest patch) and I found myself in the "OLD" map which you said was gone.
I would love to go there to confirm myself whether that map is really gone or not on my other characters but since I am not at home, I am unable to check at the moment.

I actually am in the correct 'map' per say, but I'm clearly instanced in a different map thanks to the questline and can't get back to the original one where you start off Cygnus Knights.
I was just wondering if there is a method to go back to the old one where Shinsoo is.
Some say kill the Empress, unfortunately, I do not have the range and the guild is quite vacant at the moment.

As far as I am concerned of, according to the thread starter's screenshot at best. He wanted to do the quest to upgrade his mount into shinjo and unable to find Shinsoo because he's in the wrong map.

Shinsoo is not supposed to be in that MAP.
Just take a ship to Ereve and go all the way right (2 portals to the right).

Note: I haven't been actively playing Maple lately and I don't know if there's any changes but last time I played my Cygnus Knight, that map where we got our job advancement is still the same as before.

The map you're showing in your screenshot seems to be the conferences room...

It is separate.
I'm level 199 and finally decided to do my flying mount quest until I got stuck here.

You need to kill emp.
I also don't remember having to do that quest for flying mount.
