Is Battle Mage Tanky?
Hey guys I was thinking of making a battle mage because I heard it was tanky.
I am someone who alt+tab's a lot and has a crap connection so I can't afford to die all the time on thieves, bowmen and magicians.
Shade is really fun but str% is expensive and int% is way cheaper so I want to know how tanky Battle Mage is.
How much damage does a BaM take at Drill Hall 2? Or Romeo & Juliet pq?
Is it as tanky as a warrior? Do I have to mash keys? How many active buffs are there?

You need to mash Finishing Blow and Sweeping Staff and there are lots of active buffs. But being able to hit both platforms in HoH is statisfying, just watch how far you can hit mobs once you hit 170.

Well to be on topic and this goes to everyone, this class is very good and very viable in parties so if you are thinking about trying it out, go for it and trust me, once you hit 170 you will realize why we like it so much
Nonono, you don't know anything. What you research is dps, not the playstyle.

I know more about the details of some classes when it comes to gear, skills, range, and damage than many of the people you are reffering to.
I have played almost every class to like 150+ and learned them. I don't act like I know everything, I act like I know more than most about mages since I've played them for a long time and have done a lot of research and talked to a lot of people about them.
Playing 1 char for years doesn't make you automatically knowledgeable. I know a lot of these players you are reffering to and could tell them things about their class' skills that they do not even know.
Ive made like 35-40 150+ chars and studied them each time before leveling them. I have been playing this game since like 2006 or 2007.

I did. there wasn't a lot of information available. go back to snails with ur czak hat and lv 90 bow. I just made 200k nx profit from miracle time and got to nearly 700k range/200% boss on lv 170 with a clean weap. so im good. started from scratch like a month ago.

I just bought 200k more nx. im fine ty. bam wont get ele reset unless 5th job. 5th job would change everything anyway.

With the Tele hyper, it ends up being pretty big but not as big as luminous. It's pretty close though.

I think I'm going to make a BaM when I have the time. Do BaMs only have teleport? Is it the old nooby teleport or the massive Luminous teleport?
I think I only died once on my Battle Mage, and that was around like level 20.

Mages are the biggest let down ever. The only mages without a ton of issues are fp and evan. Even those 2 have issues... Evan needs more hits and new animations -___-. Fp has some of the same problems il has just without the craptastic damage.

OT: From what I've seen, battle mages are extremely tanky and don't take much damage. Their hp drain is just op.

Yea, our damage is really good. I mean, I was at stronghold before the update (With the 3 platform map, top 2 have monsters. Can't remember the name lol) and me and some people were training. We would say our exp every 10min and what I noticed is that I was getting about 50% more XP than them. If you combine grand light aura and sweeping staff, your dps skyrockets. Be aware, I had about 100k range at the time while the people in my party were 150k-300k.

I'm unfunded so I don't really care about damage. To me, if I can kill the mobs without dying, then I'll enjoy it

I wasted 5 hours leveling this to 1-172 and 60k nx on psoks. bam has me -60$ and 5 hours of my life I will never get back which is worth even more. the battle mage class can go jump off a cliff.

yes we are very tanky, if you actually die on a BaM while training, your doing something wrong.
with an average of over 50k hp easy cap wep def / m.def. 60% active dodge with AYA+grand aura and 20% passive dodge, reminder: the passive dodge on AYA is not the same as the active one and does not stack with it, its 20% in avoidability rate and it actually does wonder.
we also have party shield to protect you and your pt from any dmg beside % hp att from most bosses.
we got a very nice draining ability that pretty much make you use no hp potions at all while training.
as for the dmg we take in SDH or any high lvl mobs... its low, very low.
its good if they can even hit me with our dodge rate and when they do hit us, its less than 2k and you can easily regain it with our drain ability so theres really no worry there.
as for mashing keys, theres nothing like that. we pretty much only use 2 skills at 170+ as a combo.
it dosent take much time to get use to it and your chat bar will be spammed from time to time.
as for active buff, we have booster, our drain skill, a stance skill in 3rd job that get replaced by our lvl 150 hyper. and our lvl 200 hyper
i think that sums it up.
BaMs are just pure tank, we max our def wayyyy early i actually have like 13k magic def before buffs, and then our one skill heals when attacking i dont even need to pot when training anymore
i have full cra and tyrant but even before i had them i already had 9999 def and 9999 m def
Yes we are very very tanky. In fact I don't remember the last time I died from training. Drill hall doesn't do much damage I think it does around 2k damage and I have around 55k hp. I will check when i get on my BaM, these numbers may be horribly wrong.
Point being that yes, we are very tanky. No mashing keys, just hit 2 keys after level 170 once we get our hyper sweeping staff. There are 4 active buffs.
