Because Maplestory became a joke with the Big Bang Patch and its security vulnerabilities that screwed lots of people. It caused lots of veteran players to find something better than this boon-gone-trainwreck.
It's because of my mere existence alone, giving not only this site but also MapleStory and everything else irrelevant a bad influence.
The layout is horrendous. And in 2018. I respect MrBasil for creating his own site, but there are services that could generate a better UI in five minutes. For free.

Things have definitely gotten a bit more quiet around here, so it may seem pretty dead, but there are definitely a few of us still lurking about. If you want, you can check bzl.co
A lot of people from here moved to there just to chat about things other than Maplestory. Mainly hobbies, other games, anime, TV. etc.
People just moved to other community forums, Basil has been around since early days, however frequent newer players tend to hop in on more accessible current sources for their questions and content such as Reddit and Discord.
