Need help w/ VMware/VirtualBox

Can anyone here run maplestory on vmware workstation 10 or virtualbox? I need help. I've been asking around to see if anyone in my BL/Guild/Alliance knows or does play on a VM; I've been doing a lot of reading and trying a bunch of stuff out but i can never get maplestory to run on the virtual machine. The OS i used was windows xp pro and tinyxp rev9. I tried editing the .vmx file, and using regedit to change names and values.
Every time I try, I either get the themida message, or the maplestory is already running 207(519) error

If you can run maplestory on VMware, I would appreciate if you could tell me what version of VMware and OS that u use.
If you can run maplestory on virtualbox, what OS u used would be awesome too.

Thanks in advance.

tldr version: I need help running maplestory on vmware/virtualbox. if u can help, please help me<3

@DustOfPain: Oh =x I don't know if he still plays. You could always try to send him a pm. At first I didn't get it to work either even though I did repeat the same steps and got it to work. So maybe one minor mistake.

I am not using it anymore because it disconnects way too fast. The last time I used it was maybe 2 years ago?

When I used VMware in the past, that was before Big Bang patch, I could stay online in VMware and even play without disconnecting. I was using my drk for HB and my bishop for HS and without any problems, only here and there some random dc caused by my router or server.

I'd really love to know how to do this too..I tried like 2 years ago to get it working on my Mac (VirtualBox and VMWare) but I could never get it work due to the hackshield detecting it (even though it's not hacking). I'm much more of a Mac fan so it'd be nice to be able to do this. Plus I'll have two computers playing it so I can make tons more accounts to farm hot day stuff

Lol, you didn't quote me properly. So I didn't know you were trying to message me untill DustOfPain quoted your text, which brought me here.
If you are trying to Quote someone in the edit, it won't notify the person, it only works in your original post before the edits.

@MstrPgda @DustOfPain
I can't really help. I might have the pre-installed VMware Workstation Windows XP Pro file on my external HDD, and check the lines or something. I think you should post in that thread where you found the guide, maybe that person can help you out. I just followed what he posted.

This one worked for me, but I am not using vmware anymore. I have used different VMware workstation versions I don't remember the exact versions but they worked for me 6.0.4, 7 and 8. And I used Windows XP Pro on them.

i use vmware player w/ windows7

in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}000]
change "DriverDesc"="VMware SVGA II" to "DriverDesc"="SVGA II"
on the vm

i did this a looong time ago (1+ year ;-; ) so i'm not sure if i'm remembering everything properly
it does still work for maple though (checked it sometime during summer)

@MstrPgda: Before using Parallels, I tried VirtualBox. I got Maple to run, but it was just extremely slow and unplayable

@_@ ive been trying like 2-3 days now.
Almost going to be 4 days. I guess I'll try windows 7 iso. Also on virtualbox i get a bunch of 0s followed by 207(519) error saying more than 1 maple is running even tho there isn't. I looked it up and it basically means it recognizes im on a VM. VMware doesnt let me even get past the themida message but ill try @sungoon 's suggestion
@Sungoon I normally just changed the display driver's name, I'm going to try your fix.
This is the solution for if Maple says "This program cannot run on a virtual machine" in response the above post. But if it works then great

Once in the virtual machine (for Windows 7):

Start> Regedit> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Hardware> Description> System> VideoBiosVersion

Modify this file and replace text with:

NOBOX__ VGA-Compatible BIOS Version 3.0.2111.89721

I play on OSX 10.8 running Windows 7 Starter via Parallels

Yea itll work. There used to be a basil thread that explained how to fix the issue of ms blocking virtual machines. iirc Its just a single line of simple code that you need to insert into one of the vmware files. I forget what it is and where it goes...but that's what google is for.
