Car buying help

So I turn 17 in a few months and will be able to get my licence (I live in nyc ). I'm looking into buying a car , specifically a Prius (used of course since its my first car and cheaper). I had found a white Prius with 50,000 miles and it was $18,000.

Is this car worth the price ?

Thanks In advance.

A few days ago, my parents purchased me my first car. It is a 2007 Blue Mazda 2 Demio with 85km on the clock. My mum managed to haggle it down to NZD$9800 (including on-road costs.) Mind you - It's a Japanese import so they chucked in a band extender with the deal because it only reached 90 hz.

My parent's initial budget was 8 grand which - clearly - was exceeded. I can't offer you any personal experience with a prius, but I have been told that Japanese cars are quite reliable. Just a bit of advice: You don't want to spend a whole lot on the car. 18 grand seems a bit excessive for the general purpose of the vehicle. Be sure to do a bit of searching before you buy your first car.

You could probably check out the model car I have because I've driven it a fair bit and it's amazing for what it is. My parents were also looking to get me a Hyundai Getz as well but the roof was quite low but it performed well for the small time I was able to drive one.

A Civic or Corolla would be better for a first time driver. Get a used one, preferably between 2007-2010 because they are cheap nowadays.

Reliable, Efficient, and Affordable. Gets you from Point A to Point B (Maybe Point C)

That's a browser-based spell checker...

OT: $18,000 for a car with 50k miles on it? For an extra $2,000, you could get something brand new.
