Black Cipher causing extreme Cpu usage

So I was playing Maplestory, on for a couple hours trying to do the prequests for the new Cygnus skill when all of a sudden I had this massive lag. I had to ctrl-alt-delete just to escape and close the game. Even after Maplestory had closed my entire computer was still lagging, I could barely mouse over things.

I went to see the cause of what was using up all the CPU and it was this thing called Black Cipher, that new hack shield thing. What the heck? Is it supposed to do that? What went wrong?

You can change the priority by hitting the "show processes from all users" button at the bottom of the task manager. That gives you admin rights, which allow you to change it. Even then, setting the priority to low doesn't help at all. I still see BlackCipher.aes jumping up to 50% cpu usage at random times. Its really ruining my gameplay, and Nexon's "fix" didn't do a dang thing.

Nexon's response:
Dear Maplers,

Since last Thursday, we have been investigating and working on the high CPU usage issue related to BlackCipher (Nexon Guard). We will make improvements to BlackCipher and update you on our progress toward resolving the issue. In the meanwhile, please try to reduce the number of running programs while playing MapleStory.

Thank you very much for actively reporting the issue through the forums and the tickets, and we appreciate your support.

Maybe, or wait till someone says he/she still got 100% CPU usage even if they log in from the website.

I haven't tried GameBooster yet, but the software looks good from what I read. And also my Blackcipher is on 0% as well, it only randomly raises to 100% after awhile.
@Hualicious: Oh. The reason why the cpu is at 100% is because of black cipher.

Yea I know after that happened to my laptop too. I thought something is wrong and it's not from my side. xD
It is so bad for our computers. Even though Maple looks so friendly, but the game and the protections layers aren't at all.

But yea I wonder if the recent Unscheduled Servers Check had solved anything? So do people still have issues with the Black Cipher now?

upgrade to the new 3rd gen intel processors. They are worth it. Or SandyBridge is good too.

been happening with me lately. Not always but often enough to annoy.

I think it acts up when I start multitasking, such as by watching youtube vids or listening to music at the same time as the game is loaded. Guess nexon wants to make sure all we do is play the game and nothing else.

I wonder how many people will want to hack the game now just so they can actually play the damn thing without it devouring their memory usage.

I was having the same problem yesterday twice. Unfortunately sometimes Black Cipher gives me no problems and runs at 0% CPU usage and other times it just spikes up to 100% and I have to force close MS and the shield. Hopefully they are able to reconfigure how the software runs on user's systems.

My computer is pretty fast and it takes up 35% usually. I still kinda lag and I have to set the graphics to low. I'm beginning to think this is random....

Nice that they replied you in 4 hours, but the reply from Nexon is totally useless. Everything they mentioned I already tried yesterday lmao.

Always 'jaw-dropping / F6' at their replies, same with the site where you can give companies your ratings. I saw Nexon even went there to give useless feedbacks, makes them so dumb.

Edit: At first I thought there was something wrong with my computer, because none of my friends didn't mention this. Some did say they had a lag but I think they also didn't know.

I have more things on my Desktop PC, so I thought maybe it was that? But my laptop is totally clean, and yesterday Maple crashed on it too, and the CPU jumped to 100%, I managed to open Task Manager and shut down MS, but the CPU remained at 100%. I had to restart the laptop.

I have been dcing quite a bit recently. I went to czak the other day and quickly dced at arms. I often never dc in a boss run. I also sometimes dc at random. Is it really because of this BlackCipher?

its showing 24-50% for CPU usage =/
I have an i3 with 6GB of DDR3 RAM, and a GeForce GT520M. It's at LEAST an entry level gaming laptop and Black Cipher is using 95-100% of my CPU. Setting it to low priority does nothing and setting it to use only one of my processors does nothing either. Everything is fine until I come to the world selection screen, and as soon as I enter my PIC, (horrible FPS at this time, can hardly move cursor) my screen turns black and nothing happens at all.

I'm not looking for a fix, just saying that it does affect fairly new laptops. I'm using W7 64bit. I'm gonna dual boot Windows XP in a bit and see if there's a difference.
BlackCipher doesn't cause conflicts with my W7 64Bits, so that shouldn't be the problem..
Try to move BlackCipher folder to another location and open Maple to see if it will force a new Hackshield download. You might have a faulty install of Hackshield (tho it seems pretty strange to me)..

BlackCipher is great.. At least in CA Eu..
From what I've seen in CA Eu, BlackCipher will hardware ban you from the game, meaning that your pc (Hardware MAC address I should say..) is blocked from the game instead of just your IP. In theory this means that you won't be able to play anymore from that computer.. tho, with some hardware parts you can change your MAC address, but with some hardware you can't.

OT: The CPU usage from your BlackCipher is indeed very strange.. I've never had problems with it in CA Eu, but it might be different in GMS (which I don't play anymore)..
Maybe forcing Maple to reinstall it could fix the problem :x..

Please Note, After MY PERSONAL experiences, this is what you would need to play Maplestory Lag Free since the implementation of blackCiper
a 64 Bit System
4 GB memory
And, An Intel Pentium (Built on Sandy Bridge The "G" Series), OR An Intel Core 2 Duo or Better Intel Core Series Processor, of an AMD Athelon X2 (I consider E and A series worse, but Phenom to be acceptable, but not recommended) or Better
And Intel HD 3000 or better graphics

It came out, I started to lag. Then the patch before this one didn't show it in the processes, and I seemed to be fine as long as I keep my graphics low, but now I'm back to lagging unconditionally.
