2H VS 1H Shield post 5th job

With the damage cap being capped at 10B, are 1H + Shield still the superior weapon of choice? Or would the 2H weapon multiplier be better?

@vacillant, just scroll your own 2-handed sword, since in every server, elite players, as in most maplers will go 1-handed/shield combo for the fact that elite gets standardized.

i would go with 1-handed fast sword with a shield scrolled for high att since you should be able to spam your attack faster, but depending on the time you amass for a boss you are trying to kill, I would say that 1-handed sword is just better if lesser time, then 2-handed runs superior during a section of added time using that reference, and then finally the 1-handed shield combo would surpass the damage amassing for an even longer time span of continuous-rapid hack-and-slash game-playing style. But if you play maple like a buccaneer, then 2-handed sword can still be a better option than a 1-handed shield combo.

If attack speed doesn't affect how fast and how often Sword of Burning Soul attack, then it would tip the scale in favor of 2-H weapon slightly.
Since aura weapon is fixed at an extra attack every 5 seconds, this favor 2-H weapon slightly more.

Technical data
-----
Weapon Multiplier difference

One-handed weapon has a weapon multiplier of 1.20.
Two-handed weapon has a weapon multiplier of 1.34, so 2-handed weapon is 11.66% stronger than 1H.
But Heroes has a hidden unexplained bonus +0.1 weapon multiplier to all weapons.
http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=71680
http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=77711

1-H weapon is 8.33% stronger, 2-H weapon is 7.46% stronger because of this.
Before, 1.34/1.2 = 1.1166, 2-H weapon is 11.66% stronger than 1-H weapon.
After, 1.44/1.3 = 1.1077, 2-H weapon is 10.77% stronger than 1-H sword.

Speed difference
Skill delay formula [(skill delay * (10 + attack speed)/16)]round up to highest multiple of 30.
Due to rounding up, certain speed benefit 1H or 2H weapon more.

With booster, 2-H weapon users has attack speed of 4, 1-H weapon users has attack speed of 3.
Raging Blow cast speed is 840ms,
2-H weapon [(840 * (10 + 4)/16)] = 735 = 750ms
1-H weapon [(840 * (10 + 3)/16)] = 682 = 690ms
1-H weapon is faster than 2-H weapon by 8.70% with Raging blow

Enraged Raging Blow cast speed is 780ms
2-H weapon [(780 * (10 + 4)/16)] = 682 = 690ms
1-H weapon [(780 * (10 + 3)/16)] = 633 = 660ms
1-H weapon is faster than 2-H weapon by 4.54% with Raging blow

Following data is using Enraged Raging Blow cast speed of 780ms
+1 additional attack speed from anything, [(780 * (10 + 2)/16)] = 585 = 600ms, 1-H weapon is faster than 2-H weapon by 10% with Enraged Raging Blow.
+2 additional attack speed from anything, [(780 * (10 + 1)/16)] = 536 = 540ms, 1-H weapon is faster than 2-H weapon by 11.11% with Enraged Raging Blow.
+3 additional attack speed from anything, [(780 * 10/16)] = 487 = 510ms, 1-H weapon is faster than 2-H weapon by 5.88% with Enraged Raging Blow.
+4 additional attack speed from anything, no contest , 1-H does not benefit from this speed due to hitting the hard speed cap at +3
Monster Park Extreme Green potion usually required for 1-H weapon to benefit from 2/3 additional attack speed when soloing, 2-handed weapon usually require it when you have 3 additional attack speed when soloing

Shield stats advantage (manual math required for the total str/att)
Shields may have less impact in Reboot due to inability to scroll
Subtract the att/str of your secondary weapon you would be wearing when you use a 2-H weapon from the shield first, if it is negative, then your shield is weaker than your secondary weapon
You will need to do the math yourself as everyone shield is not the same.
Let say your shield has 20 att,
if you have a total of 300 att (do not include %att in total) then 6.66% increase in damage (320/300=1.0666)
total of 500 att then 4% increase in damage (520/500=1.04)
total of 800 att then 2.5% increase in damage (820/800=1.025)

Let say your shield has 50 str,
if you have a total of 1500 str (AP in str + raw str from equips, do not include %str in the total) then 3.33% increase in damage (1550/1500=1.033)
total of 2000 str then 2.5% increase in damage (2050/2000=1.025)
total of 2500 str then 2% increase in damage (2550/2500=1.02)

**Due to some source of str/att that isn't affected by %stat/%att, increase in damage might be slightly lower**
As your other equips get stronger in terms of att and str but your shield is still the same, the overall damage contribution from your shield alone will decrease

2-H weapon is 10.77% stronger than 1-H sword.
+0 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is faster by 4.54% with Enraged Raging Blow, >6.23% total increase in damage from the shield stats is required for 1-H to be stronger.
+1 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is faster by 10% with Enraged Raging Blow, >0.77% total increase in damage from the shield stats is required for 1-H to be stronger.
+2 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is faster by 11.11% with Enraged Raging Blow, >0% total increase in damage from the shield stats is required for 1-H to be stronger.
+3 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is faster by 5.88% with Enraged Raging Blow, >4.89% total increase in damage from the shield stats is required for 1-H to be stronger.

-----

Conclusion:
If 1-H weapon cannot get one more extra attack with the speed advantage, 2-H weapon is stronger, unless your shield somehow increases your damage by 10.77%.
With +1 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is almost equal to 2-H weapon, the difference can easily be overcome from the shield stats.
With +2 additional attack speed from anything, 1-H weapon is slightly stronger than 2-H weapon with just the speed difference without including shield stats.
Everything else (same speed, +3 attack speed), 2-H weapon is superior, unless the increase in damage from str/att on the shield increases your overall damage by 6%.
--please note that 1-H weapon do not do more damage than 2-H weapon until the one-handed weapon get one more full attack from it speed advantage, even then 2-H weapon will out damage 1-H very slightly for a few seconds until the 1-H weapon get another extra attack off early on (in simple terms, they take turns doing the most damage early on, at some point 2-H weapon cannot take away the damage lead from 1-H weapon)--
--You do no damage if you are dead because you were too slow to dodge--

-----

Regarding the +5% damage from using axes, it is not final damage, it is just regular %damage so the +5% damage loses it value due to diminishing return as you get more %damage and %boss damage from your equipment.

I'm unsure myself, A shield giving 150 all stats is a lot to give up. However I believe ryudes is not the way forward

Im not sure how much attack you can get on a shield, since 2h weapons have a higher Base damage and multiplier i feel 2h should nullify any few extra attack a shield Will give you.

(Not sure on this but i feel it to be true)
