Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de aru

So, the series ended about a month ago, but I figured I might as well make a thread about it considering I didn't really see many people on Basil discussing it that much. Honestly, I didn't really have any interest in this show; at first glance it looked like a Madoka Magica ripoff (quite frankly, I didn't actually like that show that much either), and then I found out it was written by the same person who wrote Akame ga Kill, so I pretty much decided to stay away even further.

However, despite that, I've actually seen quite a lot of discussion on various other places regarding the show, so I decided to check it out on a whim to see what the hype was about, and was surprised to find myself actually enjoying the show after some point, and the whole Madoka comparison stopped mattering after a while. I wouldn't put it in my tops list as it did have some flaws, but I do think it was a decent watch for the most part, and I'm glad I checked it out.

If anyone actually watched this show, what did you think of it?

It was pretty good and interesting plot and characters.

I liked the way the ending was and the theories surrounding it; not sure how I feel about the whole sacrifice system being nullified, but I guess it's more satisfying this way. It was done in a way that allows them to make another arc if they want to because they still have something to work with, yet it still provides enough closure to feel like an actual ending even if they don't feel like continuing the series.

Personally, I'm hoping for an arc three, and I do wish that they make it an anime as well, given that the series is multi-media.

@Deciduous: Admittedly it wasn't really that interesting near the beginning; in fact I don't really think that it really tries to immerse you until episode seven. I'm not entirely sure if I would recommend this to people or not, but it was satisfying enough for me to not drop it.

Kinda surprised Plenair hasn't yet come in and written a detailed master's thesis about why and how this show sucks, lel.

I heard some good things, just haven't picked it back up from ep 3 yet. There are probably better things in my backlog tho.
I thought it was pretty good, and unless this one guy's headcanon happens to be correct, the ending was pretty contrived.
The headcanon was essentially that, when Yuna collapses on stage, that's because time stopped and she went to go fight a Vertex. It's essentially the same as the end of Madoka where she takes on all the responsibility on her own.
...holy crap. That actually makes so much sense now that I think about it...

SPOILER ALERT SKIP THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED
Now I'm thinking that when Yuna was in her comatose state, the shinju-tree god talked to her inside her mind or something, and they made a deal where she could spend time with her friends like a normal person, as well as being healed herself; however the catch was that she had to fend off the Vertex(es) on her own for all eternity...

Would be nice if they actually showed that in the anime, but I guess it's also nice that they left it a bit open-ended for the audience to draw their own conclusions.

Though that may have made the influence of PMMM even more obvious, I love the Madoka series to death so I'm extremely biased when I say that the bittersweet emotions left by such an ending might be an improvement over the current one.
SPOILER END

So, what was good about it? Or is that too spoilerific for some people.

Overall I thought the series wasn't bad, though I have to admit that I saw the "our conditions won't get better" plotline coming a mile away. I did really like the scene where Fu realizes Itsuki wanted to be a singer, that was very emotional.
Oh the plot twist with Togo did catch me off guard though, that was cool.

I watched about 40% of the first ep and one random ep in the middle of the season. I can't remember anything except for some girl in a wheelchair and one in a hospital bed in the middle of nowhere, so I guess that's that.
