Studio Ghibli closing
http://www.hypable.com/2014/08/03/studio-ghibli-announces-closure/
Thoughts? Personally never watched much Ghibli but I know that it has quite the cult following. The only question that remains is about the supposed Sanzoku no Musume Ronja anime that was scheduled for Fall.

I think Ghibli only helped with a portion of the cutscene animations, so there could still be a NNK2
@SkyGlide: Lol. Guess Basil wouldn't be Basil without the trolls.
I haven't even seen frozen.
eh i only ever really liked howl's moving castle and spirited away.
it's hard to care too much considering Miyazak's retirement and he was one of the few good directors Ghibli had in the first place. recent decisions to adapt stuff like children's books (Marnie, Borrower Arietty) seems to have been a bad one...on top of both those movies being v disappointing. though this may not have happened at all had the Ghibli staff stayed freelance instead of becoming locked-in employees (whenever that happened).
it just bums me out that this whole closure has people coming out of the woodwork to crap on Ghibli or Miyazaki as if they didn't make some bomb-ass movies. there's also, i suspect, ignorance of some of Ghibli's lesser known films contributing to collective apathy.

inb4 "im white how dare u"
ya but majority here are asians and suck up to anime crap
You can't say "cause you're all asians" and then say "inb4 im white how dare u"
That just goes against your argument. You're saying that people care because they are asian, and by saying "inb4 im white how dare u" just clashes with your asian statement because it shows that white people also care about studio ghibli.
@Melkovech: Lol, whatever helps ya sleep at night man.
Not really a fan of his newer movies but his older ones are already out and established so that's all I really need. I believe they made a great impression and will never be forgotten. Not really sad to see them go, just happy that they left us with movies like Spirited Away.
this really summarized my thots very well
kiki's delivery service, my neighbor totoro, spirited away, ponyo, and grave of the fireflies
so sad if studio ghibli really is closing.
'bout time
Grave of the fireflies
-I'll miss you Ghibli
NUUUUuuuuuuuuuu
Oh no. I love Miyazaki and Studio Ghilbi
Didn't Mizayaki say he was retiring before his last movie lolz?
I've only seen a few of their movies. Spirited Away being my most memorable one because I watched it as a kid.
I figured they were going to close. They stated that their future depended on their newest movie and seeing how that didn't go very well, they were bound to make a decision.
I was never a big fan of Ghibli movies, so I wouldn't care very much.
Also, its apparently a brief pause in animation and not a closure.

I don't really care actually. I'm not a big fan of Miyazaki's movies, I only liked like 3 or 4 of them so. Also, I think people overrate his movies and the studio a little bit too much.
I guess there will be no Ni no Kuni 2.
laputa is still good
Still more of a Ghibli fan than a Disney fan.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
My face right now:
Mizayaki is an old coot with ancient beliefs, and his latest movie was terrible.
