First you clean slate (.85)(10) slots because you only passed 15%. Then you clean slate (.85)(.85)(10). Then you clean slate (.85)(.85)(.85)(10). Then you clean slate (.85)(.85)(.85)(.85)(10). This is an infinite series with common ratio of (.85). What you would do it take the first term, 8.5, and divide by 1-(.85). 8.5/(1-(.85)) 8.5/.15 56.666...slots Since you need 10 CSS10% per slot, you need about 567 CSS10%. To put this in perspective, if CSS10% cost 40m each, you need 22,680,000,000 mesos if your z-score is 0.
Since Fafnir equips are ubiquitous, it would be a good idea to try to land a decent amount of 15% without the worry of perfecting one right away. Keep in mind you can fuse equips. Once you land something like 4/10 or 5/10, the process becomes a lot cheaper.

#basilmath 15% means 1.5/10=1.35/9
It's a 10 slot item so you manipulate the numerator to be 10. You multiply the ratio by 1 (or 6.666/6.666) so you get 10/66.666 which is 15%. Since you need the clean slate when the spell trace fails, you just find the complement (1-p)=q so 56.666/66.666 will fail and need clean slates. 10 clean slates=1 slot back so 566 clean slates is the expected # of clean slates.
Assuming no diligence? Ew. There are several ways to think of this. One way would be an infinite geometric series. 10/.15 ~ 67 attempts, with 10 passing You need to clean slate 57 of these failed attempts.
With diligence, you end up with... 10/.25 ~40 attempts, with 10 passing You need to clean slate 30 of these failed attempts.

I agree with this man. And unless you can find someone willing to do it for you and go through the hassle of trading to lucky day if you want to don't scroll it without maxed diligence

That's the point of my post.
Someone's going to say they don't and look stupid.
This isn't rocket surgery.
Spent 1.5b on spell trace / css 10%, to only land 1 15%.
well i didn't pay any anything when i made this

took me like 6bil used around 120 slates in total but i was using lucky day scrolls and level 5 dillligence and guild skill
Are CSS affected by dilligence?
No, but lucky day increases the pass rate of css
It took me 9B ):
Are CSS affected by dilligence?
depending on luck with css, 2.5-6b
Meh, I randomly passed 4 15% in a row without using lucky day scrolls so... o_o. Then I try to 30% the rest and it all fails lol. All depends on luck.

I do believe OP is *factoring the need to clean slate.
