Do any Basilers have credit cards?

Hey just curious, because I love collecting cards.

I have a credit card for just about anything I do.

I have a Discover and Chase for their 5% cash back program on certain items.
A Visa black card for hotels (since I get 5x the points for Marriott brand purchases)
An American Express Platinum card for all my flights (it also gets me access to all airline lounges and certain amenities).
A debit card for places that don't take credit card.
And a Chase Sapphire card because it looks badass.

How about you guys?

I am an adult. What kind of adult does not have one.
At the age of 18 banks just gives you cards. Also retail stores bother you to get one.

I don't think I can trust you with a credit card. Might hurt yourself with it.

Well, in that case, I'd recommend a Chase Freedom or Discover IT. They all have a rotational 5% program that give you 5% cash back on certain items during every 4 months.
These cards are great to use on large purchases, as you will get a larger cash back. They also start off at ~$1000 limit, so you can buy quite a few things.

You can start requesting a credit limit increase after your first year of using your credit card or so. It won't be much at first, but when you start working full time, you can increase your limit to $10k+

@MegaZord: If you need help deciding, I can help. I've done a fair amount of research. Most cards have no annual fees, but they all have different benefits (like travel miles, cash back, discounts at stores, etc...). It depends on what you use your money on mostly.

@icemage11: How do you know I make bank?
@Boss: I'm a healthcare IT consultant. Basically, I help hospitals install the best software on the market and optimize their revenue flow (this includes decreasing time patients spend during a hospital visit so doctors can see more people in a day, cutting back hospital costs by recommending efficient 3rd party programs and helping them with their workflow in order to improve patient care).

@Only17: Credit cards only have a bad name because of people who aren't financially responsible.

It's totally ok to get credit cards at a young age and start using it, as long as you pay your monthly payments online. This is actually extremely easy to do, seeing as you only have to pay back a certain percentage of your total expenditures.

By using credit cards at an earlier age, you can start building up a good credit score that will be vital in the future for mortgages, loans and interest rates. Many credit cards also offer cash back programs at no cost to you.

I don't understand people who don't use credit cards. It's really in everyone's best interest.

For a second I thought you were saying you didn't have a credit card, and I thought that was really weird for a guy that's making bank.

I have a debit card for the same reason as you and a credit card that doesn't have any benefits I don't want to transfer banks and my bank only offers a basic, no rewards Visa to students.
