10 Mile Running Plan

The chat section scares me a bit, but I'll try anyways.

I've decided that I'm way too unfit and out of shape, so I'm going to NOT spend my entire summer playing Maplestory. That being said, I got a job, and I also want to start running. But when I looked up training plans, there are so many conflicting ideas. So I want some opinions from people who actually run cross country.

I need a training plan taking these things into account:
- My current fitness level in a 1 to 10 scale is -11
- I need to run 10 miles
- I have 12 weeks
- I can devote 4 days a week
- I have 3 hours every day, but not consecutive... 2 hours, then 1.
- But in the hour in between, I will be lightly walking.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Edit: Ok ok, I'm NOT a -11. It's only the opposite of a Spinal Tap reference. I'm at a decent enough fitness to walk for several miles already, sure, but running is where I lose stamina. And I'm definitely not trying to lose weight... I'm already slightly underweight. By unfit I just mean unfit, not fat.

Edit 2: To the couple of people who actually posted something useful, thanks. To the rest of you who said I couldn't do it, I'LL SHOW YOU! F5 And to Sped, you win the best advice award.

@hooobo - Sorry, I should've been more clear earlier. I'm looking to gain strength and stamina, but not lose weight. I'm really skinny as it is just because my metabolism is so high.

@blahofdeath - Idk... 4 days is all I can give. Worst part is, its 4 consecutive days, and then 3 consecutive rest days. I know its a bad time issue to work with, but I've got to make the most of it.

If you are a -11, you're probably not going to be running 10 miles within 12 weeks.
The key is to get out there, and start running. Start with something like 15 minutes per day and don't let yourself stop in that time period. When it becomes easier, push yourself harder and move up 5 minutes.

@Lan - Lol... join my plan. We'll keep each other motivated.

@blackhawk661 - Well, I already walk. I can walk several miles easy. It's just when I increase the speed I lack the stamina to keep that up. And I think little bit of walking during the 10 miles is acceptable. That's actually the goal for the summer cross country team at my school. I just can't actually join it because of time issues.

@Stevejr123 - I'm a pretty hard-headed guy. Once I have my mind set, I don't stop until I die. And that only happened twice.

Just make sure you keep the whole thing up.
It'll be good in the long run.

HEHE. Get it?

But yeah. It's like cross country, every 2nd day of the week you go hard. Don't expect to run 12 miles a day.

EDIT: Your goal is to improve every week, doesn't matter how little you improve, as long as you improve.

Running is a hard thing to start up, I suggest going for long walks first then build up to occasionally jogging, then a warm up walk and jogging the rest of time, from there alternate between running and jogging for the entire time.

And do you want to run 10miles straight?

The key is to pace yourself.
