Origin of OOPArts skill name
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out-of-place_artifact
OOPArts = out-of-place artifact, aka an artifact found to be too advanced to be understandably matched with the time period its supposed to originate from, aka an anachronistic object.
An example of an OOPArt would be a machine gun that is found to have originated 1 million years ago even though the human species has emerged 195,000 years ago (this is a fictitious example, of course).
Thank you, this thread was really necessary.
As if any thread was actually necessary?
@Sungoon: A whole other side of this game? Wow..lol.
Goodie for you. Don't be such a pedant. Others might not know this information. Or have you not considered that because it's below you or something?
Considering how many people who seemed unaware of the background of this skill, I'd say that this terminology is not really common knowledge.
So the thread maker is just trying to feed those of us who weren't aware of this information a little tidbit about a class.
I'd much rather learn this quick, interesting background fact than read more imploring questions about how to increase one's range or where to train or those numerous troll threads.
Read more then. It expands your vocabulary.
Or you find it unnecessary because you knew what OOPart stood for eons before this thread was made or even Xenon was made.
There's a whole other side to this game that you don't see because you think like this.
First time I heard the term was in a Megaman Starforce game I think it was in the second game
Either way it's always nice to see interesting stuff like this, never thought to look into rl OOParts wow
I can't believe it, a good thread on basil. I don't think I'll ever see this again on basil though.
Sounds very interesting and makes a lot of sense now =o Especially since Xenon originated in the mines of Edelstein. I mean, why wouldn't they be able to find an "OOPart"?
Reminds me of those little Incan "Airplane" artifacts xD (...)
artificial turtles. - ooparts
o This is interesting.
I learned something new today. I guess that's why when you use the skill, Xenon says,"I wonder what this will do to me?"
^ This sums up my reaction.
Thank you for throwing something informational to the community, whether they like it or think it's a waste of time. I had learned the term two years before so I thought it was pretty interesting when I saw it in maple. a different idea for them that's for sure.
oOP arts
I learned something new today. I guess that's why when you use the skill, Xenon says,"I wonder what this will do to me?"
wow this is interesting haha i can guess you love your xenon too much, and to those guys that said this thread was a waste : suck it up
tbh I thought it mean op part as in over powered part
I always wondered what it stood for, and I was always too lazy to search it up. Thanks for explaining it.
Oopart = Chronomaly OCG name.
@EmpireSun
@djhfreak
I thought we could all use a little break from all the threads on where to train and the complaints for all the numerous glitches f3.
forget those guys I thought this was interesting. I would rather have threads like this than what people do in the chat section
Yes, @reedpipes, this was not a waste of forum bandwidth. Yes indeed.
Thank you, this thread was really necessary.
