A new battery for an old laptop

I love 4:3 laptop displays because I feel like they allow me to view more of a PDF document, web page, etc. While widescreen displays allow for side-by-side multitasking, they do not have enough vertical distance for me.

And some of you might know that 4:3 has been pretty much phased out.

I have an iBook g4. It currently has two batteries, each having about 50% full charging capacity. I am thinking about getting a brand new one (eBay has some OEMs for $15 shipped).

My question is, do you think it is worth buying an iBook g4 battery? This is a 12 year old laptop. And I want a 4:3 and since this laptop is lying around, I feel like I might as well make use of it instead of shelling out $100 for a used t60.

If all you use it for is reading documents, $15 is way better than the cost of something else.
Otherwise it's hard to justify spending very much restoring old technology.

Also... if the vertical resolution is the same, the "vertical distance" (the amount of a document that shows vertically) will be the same between displays of differing aspect ratios. The document will look exactly the same on an 8" high 4:3 display as it will on an 8" high 16:9 display. All it means is there's more empty space on both sides of the document.

Looking at the specs of that laptop, I hope you're joking...
