Did I just do a major no-no of dating?

So I've been talking with a girl for a about 2 months now and we are planning on going on a date. My mom likes to pass by my computer and gets a little nosy occasionally and has expressly told me she thinks the girl is a freak. My mom picked up the phone today when the girl tried calling me and told me she sounds nice. Me and the girl i'm dating started talking on the phone about my mom picking up and how she didnt question her or anything/ me asking if my mom beat her up too much lol. Anyways while we were on that subject I let slip to her that my mom has been saying that she's a freak and that after intercepting that call she deems her nice. Did I mess up?
atm she's not my girlfriend, we met on an online dating site and skyped a bit. We are currently at that mid-phase between deciding if we're friends or should take it to the next level. Honesty is kinda something I dont hold back. Could this maybe help build trust in a starting relationship? I think she kinda took it offensively at first but realized its probably just my super christian mom freaking out about her goth lifestyle.
I see. You should tell her that your mom overreacted. If you think she's a good person, go for it. If I truly loved the person..my opinion of them only matters..(don't care what my parents think). You shouldn't let your mom's opinion affect you if you both truly like each other. Good luck. Honesty is a good thing and it can help you develop a healthy relationship. What good is a relationship built on lies.
