I'm actually thinking of changing my job to paladin. I know paladins for sure are more interesting with a variety of attacking skills, bossing benefits especially party support and survivability, but I'm not sure if they out damage dark knights. I know for a fact they outdamage heros base on watching Kms videos between heros and paladins. To answer your question, use a paladin but alternate using a 1handed weapon and a shield.

because paladin paladin's can ignore elemental resistance on bosses, it can do full damage on bosses like hilla for example.
hero on the other hand is both outclassed by drk and paladins, so thats why you see few far and wide, there mobbing is also lacking to.
paladin is for cutes

Hero: Pride.
Forget about damage.
Hero: Higher damage in Dojo
Pally: Higher damage against endgame (CRA, Gollux, Empress) bosses
