Why is it called cross country? Why isn't it called running club? Why does it get a special name?
Why do people think running is a sport?

"I'm in push up club, where we do push ups to practice and push ups to compete".

Usually I just zone out in the race to focus on pain. The only time I recognized pain was when I tore a muscle in a race. Just gotta look at the person in front of you and that should get rid of the pain. And make sure in general your stamina is pretty well. With regards to upper body, over the summer I would do the p90x workout stuff almost everyday over the summer and now here at college since it is the beginning of the season I lift around twice a week, but it's not like the serious bodybuilder kind of lifting. In my 5ks I would actually take it out really hard. One race I took it out in a 4:44 and then I just hold on for whatever I have left. If I know I gave it my all, then I will be happy for that race unless I got too reckless. And to improve endurance, set aside certain days for long runs, but have your days where you pick it up with some speed. Some days here I will go out for around 10 mile runs, but other days we will have like mile repeats at around 5:10 pace so we know the feeling to race, but have the endurance to keep going.

I am but my times are nowhere near yours. I've dropped from 24 to sub 18 in 1 month~ of XC in the 5k. I want to aim for 17:xx. How do you ignore the pain? Or is it your tolerance of lactic acid high? Another thing, do you focus on your upper body just as much as lower? Would I need to lift or just regular exercises that don't need weight?

Pacing-wise? How do you run your 3 miles? 5:xx~ each mile constant? Slower mile-time on your previous 2 miles and going all out on the last one? Any other tips to help me improve my endurance would be help.

Yeah after two years of cross country in high school, I managed to run D1 for college which I am very thankful for. I'm currently a freshman in college and XC is amazing I love it.

Yea my first 8k was quite a challenge, I didn't know what to expect and went out too hard. Soon enough I may make it to regionals, and run the 10k there o.o

Right now my 5k pr is a 15:50. My next race is this Saturday where I will be running an 8k. Most likely I'll be shooting to run my fastest 5k in my 8k lol.

Oh man you don't even know the struggle man. Here in college our long run days are around 14-15 miles depending on how fast we go
