Windows 8 themida problem Ms v.117

Hey i have the new operating system windows 8 pro on my computer. Before anyone starts to bash windows 8, that's not why i started this thread. The new patch .117 (mihile update) caused me to get a Themida problem (which encrypts and protects nexon's files from being cracked or altered and obviously i didnt touch them). I'm assuming it is the patch because it was working fine yesterday (still on windows 8). I was wondering if anyone else on a windows 8 computer was experiencing this same problem. I tried reinstalling multiple times but to no avail... Any help is appreciated!

I have Windows Developer Preview (Which is like windows 8) and ever since Maple updated to v1.17 I have been unable to start it. It keeps throwing that Themida error at me and I can't play it! People have said to me that I should make my version of Windows Windows 7 but I can't because it doesn't say Windows 7 in the selection part when I try to change my version of windows!

Wait what are you guys talking about? I dont have the beta version. You can buy the full fledged os now.

EDIT: Oops i forgot to mention i was able to download it off of MSDN. Which is why i dont have the release preivew, but infact do have windows 8.
Do you know what a beta is? Your job is to try out the OS and find bugs like these so Nexon or w/e software company can fix them so when everyone does the move there will be no problems
A beta is use to also report bugs within the operating system. Nexon would wait until the official version is released before taking measures on how to make windows 8 compatible with it. There would be no point testing it now because the coding could change between now and the final release
well why did you download something that is still in beta without having a back-up operating system?
My GameLauncher.exe won't run it at all and I just re-installed with the v117 setup earlier. What version of Windows 8 are you running it on? There's a lot of people who don't think Win 8 will run it at all.

Just installed via Steam, it didn't work via Steam (Themida), but still works when I use Gamelauncher.exe, Don't know what's the difference between mine and yours.

I'm getting the same error too, ever since 117. Steam doesn't work, tried re-installing via steam, and normal installation doesn't work either. I even sent an email to the support team, with no reply yet...

I am running Windows 8 Release Preview, and on top of that, the game was running just fine from Steam until the v117 patch came out. I am getting the Themida error straight from MS, but nothing has changed on my end since the patch so I take it, there was something that is incompatible contained within the patch itself. I've searched all over the internet and other users are having Themida problems when launching from the website, so I am positive that this error is not on the user end. The best bet is probably to just wait on Nexon to fix things up.

Windows 8 is not new, it's in Beta. Meaning it's not officially released yet. Once it's officially released, you can call it new.

Less of a headache is wait it out and dualboot. I prefer W7 and I would wait for W8 to fully come out before even attempting to use it. But also W8 is more geared torwards touch screen rigs.

Does Maple throw you the Themida error or does Windows/any security program? Maple throws that error if it detects other running processes that are protected by Themida's encryption. Try figuring out if there are any other programs running that might be protected by Themida. Process Explorer and Process Monitor from the Windows SysInternals suite made me get these errors in the past (not Windows 8). I had to reboot (and make sure the specific program doesn't start up on boot) to be able to launch Maple again. GL
@SeanZxShine: I'm not much of a computer person, but isn't it possible to buy Windows 7 and install it into your computer? I don't know the price, but that's an option I believe.

Sorry that I'm not much help.
yeah i can dual boot it. but i might as well put xp because MS is optimized for that os. Seems kinda crazy to put an entire os just for one game tho lol. And I am still grateful for your help. though i was really hoping someone with windows 8 posted here. xD guess there arent as many crazy people as me.
Did it just say "Themida error" or did it give you a specific code?

Either way, just downgrade.
it did give me a code. However i googled it and it came with 0 hits... so i figured it was relative to the computer and not a generic error code.
I read on the main site forum page from a person who had a "Nexon" badge saying that MapleStory does not support Windows 8.

It took Nexon about 2 years (from official Release date) to get up to date and being supported for Windows 7.

Good luck on playing the game.
ah thanks for the heads up. It's just strange because i had windows 8 yesterday and it was working then...
thats why i dont try new things until it has been fully tested. too many problems when it first comes out since most programs arent designed to work with it
like i said this thread isn't about getting windows 8. i didn't really have a choice. I got it for free but i had to use it in a limited time frame.
