Skateboarding advice for a newbie
So I recently was a gifted a fake** penny board (ik the the title says skateboard, i messed up, fight me) and apparently its "cheap" when comparing to other ones online (its like $20).
I spent a couple hours getting myself used to it.
I know how to actually ride it and turn and stuff.
The thing i dont know how to do, or rather cant do, is keep going, like legit like keep moving(unless its a downhill). I do keep pushing with the leg thats not on the board, but I dont get far.
I mentioned earlier that it was cheap because apparently that may be the problem. But im not sure.
So can anyone give me advice for this problem
**I say fake because apparently, as my short online research has concluded, any "penny" board thats not from the actual Penny company, its a fake.

@shamieekill: I got my first one from a Toys "R" Us for $100.00 CAD. Depending on where you live I think the variety varies. Zumiez has some pretty cheap selections as well. To learn, anything works. However, for my Toys "R" Us one it got boring real quick as soon as I picked up the basics. I switched out the bearings so I could get more roll on it so I wouldn't have to pedal as much. Keep in mind that different board designs offer different uses. Go to this website and do some research on your preference.

What longboards do you guys recommend thats under $100?
You push yourself with your back leg a bit, and then you roll until you get too slow, then you push more. There are things called bearings in the wheels and the worse your bearings are(cheap), the shorter distance you will roll after pushing, good bearings make it so you push less often.
if you enjoy it then I would recomend trying a longboard, its really fun going down hills but you cant do that on a penny
@forsakensky: Alright thanks bro, maybe I'll buy a long board then
@daghettoboy: I already got passed that part haha. I'm a goofy. I like to ride with right foot forward. I'm just trying to figure out why, no matter how hard I push, I can't seem to go more than a few feet (unless its downhill)
@caeg: There we go, that's what I needed to fix. Thanks bro, I appreciate it
A majority of those fake penny boards can't move because they use cheap bearings. Getting a good set of bearings will allow the wheels spin much longer. Bearings can be expensive but I've always found that these are cheap but effective. http://bonesbearings.com/bones-reg-reds-reg-bearings-8-pack
Bone reds can be found at pretty much any skate shop so there isn't a need to buy them online unless there's none by you. Pretty easy to replace the bearings. If you can't figure it out, just google it. There's plenty of tutorials online.
To ride a pennyboard u first have to decide if you're normal or goofy.
Once u establish that then push with your back foot and keep your front foot pointed sideways on the tip of the pennyboard and the back foot all the way on the tail of the board pointed straight.
You can stop either by toe jamming, heel grinding, stepping off, or tail grinding.
I usually skate standard 8inch boards but pennys are always fun
YouTube "how to longboard" go to the muirskate one. I used this to get me started on longboarding. Transferable skills. I'd suggest practicing on a longboard first because it's a lot easier on the nerves. I can skateboard and penny board now thanks to this.
just go to one of those skateboard parks with the ramps and use the ramps
become the gnarliest duuuuude and youll be all g
do you like illegit like keep moving?
Skateboards are useless.
