Personally wouldn't play Tera unless you've got friends to play with. It can get awfully boring when soloing. Then again, this can be applied for most other games; however, I feel like this is especially true for Tera.
Well the community is meh, the player is pretty good at the moment since gunner came out. But Queuing dungeons using instance match making is really hard since no one really queue's. All in all if you can find a guild that's helpful and nice, they'll help you get end game gear. Also one major problem with this game is that they keep releasing new end game gear after 6 months or so, and it roughly takes that amount of time just to make end game gear that came out previously.(This applies only to pvp gear though), PVE isn't that much of an issue.
All classes are viable to play, Tera is more skilled focus, and you got to learn how to dodge. I suggest Mount Tyrannous since it has the most people and if you like open world pvp.

you know what was crazy?
Gunner release day.
If you've played Monster Hunter then TERA will be a cake walk. That was my experience and it was just downright boring.

How's the community? Decent sized playerbase? I've been hearing stuff about most servers being dead.
