This. Nintendo stated a lot of times that Wii U/3DS would have the same roster, I don't know why you would think they wouldn't. (unless you just weren't paying attention lmao)

@ox0Shad0w0xo: Yeah. I couldn't wait for the WiiU version so I bought the 3DS one right away. Stage editor was the thing I was actually next most excited about. Other than that, it's just the stages and getting to use a proper controller.

@Caeg: The main rumors were the ones in the gematsu leaks, which were pretty accurate save for some odd ones that didn't make it like chorus men. And technically they did kind of save some hype for those that didn't look into any info from the 3ds version. Because they never did a video for duck hunt so that came out of nowhere, and they did a reveal trailer for bowser jr at the end of the Wii U 50 fact extravaganza. Which, for those like me that haven't paid any attention at all to the 3ds, was a surprise. At least you can take joy in all the other extras the Wii U version got. I can see some real craziness being created with that stage editor. Looks like a great improvement over the Wii version.

Given that Smash will probaly be the last iteration for 8 years plus, I think Lucas has a shot of making it back in at some point, along with Wolf and Roy. Ice Climbers are the only ones that I think have no shot unless their mechanics are completely redone.[/quote]

Possible we're looking in different areas. I wouldn't say their reaction is "meh" but more trying to just keep an open mind for it all since they weren't entirely sure if it was true. Gamexplain as well as other forums just talking about possibilities can build up hype for people. They do mention as well that it would make a lot of sense to not release the entire roster with the 3DS version. There has definitely been the most salt for Ridley considering he's been asked since Melee. But I've still seen people hoping for other characters. Many people were hoping for more characters to be unlocked via the 3DS to WiiU connection as well.

@Caeg: I have not seen that on the boards. GameXplain never hyped the characters that you said much. IRRC, they were always like "meh" when it came to those and were primarily just talking about the rumours and leaks. The only thing that I have seen a good number of ppl be really salty about is Ridley.

But, W/e perhaps we just have two dif perspectives on whats going on.

I've seen some on /v/, /r/SmashBros, as some other sites. Gamexplain has done some talking about characters that have been rumored for the WiiU release as well which I'm sure added hype to people.

I was just hoping for more. Plenty of hype was built up for the 3DS version. Was hoping Nintendo saved some of the character roster hype for the WiiU instead of dumping it all in the 3DS version. Still excited for DLC though.

I honestly hope Lucas comes back. He was my brawl main, and probably should be there more than Lucina or Dark Pit, because unlike them, Lucas is not a carbon copy of Ness, his jabs, smashes, tilts, specials, and grabs all do different things than Ness's. The specials are probably the closest thing that he has to Ness, and even then, they are still very much different.

@Caeg I think you psyched yourself up with the hope that they'd surprise us which is why you're not happy about it now. DLC characters are definitely going to happen, but no telling who or what it will be beyond mewtwo.

@ox0Shad0w0xo I remember them saying that a while back. But they could easily push out an update for the 3DS to provide the new characters.
@Ecarina Was never thinking of it as WiiU exclusive characters. Just to have some characters still a secret for when the WiiU came out. Then provide the characters on the 3DS as well.
@0kevqn You can never still have too many characters. o.o Just makes the game more interesting.
@bluebomber24 I would say there's a good amount of people who feel the same way though. There was still hype of characters such as Dixie, Chorus Men, Impa, and other characters online. I'm sure besides the announcement of Mewtwo, their excitement has gone down.

lol I like how most of the thread ended up being everyone quoting Caeg. Either way I'm excited because I could care less about the 3DS version. Nothing like playing smash with a gamecube controller.

Yeah. I'm excited for Mewtwo and potential DLC but I just feel like Nintendo not adding any extra characters is just killing off the WiiU release hype. At least I know personally that I'm not as excited for the WiiU release anymore since I've already played all the characters on the 3DS. I'm still exited for the new stages and features but characters were the biggest thing that got me excited for the game.
