The problem with the rings (if you use gollux) is that they need to be manually removed and then equipped in two steps. This means that the rings get cycled to the bottom half of your inventory, and when you have 96 inventory slots that's a lot of equips to search through.

I personally gave up on switching my rings and just leave my drop gear on all the time.

My equip inventory goes:
[Decent SI] [Decent AB] [Decent HB] [Decent CO]
[Pend 1] [Pend 2] [Face] [Eye]
[Ring 1] [Ring 2] [Ring 3] [Ring 4]
[Earrings]

It just comes down to a matter of how YOU would have the easiest time switching gears out. My setup works for me, other peoples' setups work for them. Experiment for yourself to find the optimal organization.

I set drop gears on the bottom of my inventory.

Bottom left is where my decent equips go.
Next row is for 3 stacks of rings.
Next row is just my greed pendant.

Next row is a stack of all my other equips. My order is the following:
Eyes
face
ring (just 1 here)
earring
pendant

The purpose of this set up is so I can go to my far right row and equip them all by double clicking.
The next two rows are there for drag + click.

As a night lord, this should be easier than any other job because other jobs have to actually dodge things such as hard magnus meteors, chaos von bon clocks, and/or cvel spikes.

If only we can hotkey familiars.

Before you close your inventory, put your equip tab and item tab beside each other then put your drop gear off to the side closest to the equip side, for easy drag and drop.

for most people i have seen, they have the expanded window, where it shows all 96 slots, and they have the equips on the first page/last page.

It's just whatever location is best for you to fast click it on and if you have more than one ring its best to have it close to the equip tab so you can easily drop click them.
It's just preference. And its good to have memorized set locations for an item. I have specific slots for mine (makes it easier on impulse to find)
