Nice nice

Don't forget to watch the other challenge videos; they contain throwing up, which is what everyone wants isn't it?
I've never seen that trend in New Zealand so far. That, or I haven't submersed myself deep enough in internet stupidity. It sounds like a something people would do nowadays.

Regarding the last bit, yes; I have seen those Basil threads and honestly, what can I say? Basil is one of the worst places I know to boost your self esteem or reassure yourself about something because there's always going to be someone able and willing to shoot you down.
Well I would have never found out about that pretty/ugly trend if they wouldn't have talked about it on German TV and tested it themselves.
Same with Planking.
I don't care about trends at all and i usually actually avoid them (like back in 8th grade or something like that grey hoddies with dark blue stars were "in", years later every 2nd girl wore a huge poofy GOLDEN winter jacket (uuuuuugh so ugly I swear...), taking drugs/drinking, who can drink more etc etc...).
I find it horribly dumb and boring when everyone follows trends just to "belong" or something.

There's a vid i'm watching about the pretty/ugly thing that I find quite interesting atm
Pretty or Ugly?

at one point he says "you, that guy or girl out there, define your beauty. Not what I think, not what some other guy thinks about you - you define who you are, whether you have worth, whether you are valuable, whether you are beautiful. You define it, not other people."

if you search for "pretty or ugly" on youtube you do find quite a bunch of vids of kiddos asking for responses about their looks, it's pathetic and stupid imo.
@TheNoDozOwl: Nah it's actually something totally different.
It's the "Am I Pretty or Ugly"-Trend where American teens (for whatever reason nobody could figure out) put their video on youtube asking for people to rate them.
Of course there will be many people telling them they're ugly solely cause the Person asked them which already puts them in a bad light.
There often are really horrible and mean answers and they made a German Version test where 2 actually quite pretty girls put the exact same vids on youtube - with the result that basically half (or more than half) of the responds were negative, offensive, mean and rude and as much as the girls tried to take it easy it did bug them some.
Those 2 vids were the first German ones and they were removed afterwards.

Now the thing is if a teen that, what I would assume, is already mentally/emotionally damaged* (What sane person puts a video on such a site? Of COURSE there will be trolls and mean comments and it should be common sense it's not something a teen could deal with) has to read all those horrible comments about how ugly they are and that they should get a life - or even commit suicide - COULD actually do something bad to themselves (-> actually killing themselves) which ofc is fatal.

They also talked about Planking on German TV here long ago but I don't remember what exactly they said about that. (didn't Owling follow that or am I imagining things?)

*I don't mean retarded, I'm more aiming at the mental/emotional condition of a teenager (puberty messes a lot of things up) and considering that they have the time and nerve to ask the internet instead of relying on friends or their personal environment in general.
In case that person was/is bullied iRL then they already have a hard time as it is - if some desperate urge in them drives them to put up a video on youtube (to at least get SOME attention for example) then the responds for that could have some horrible consequences

Edit: that exact same trend exists on basil too sadly in the form of "rate my picture" with some dumb excuse like "I'm bored" (who the hell would get the idea of putting their pic online during boredom?). You can imagine that the TSs probably got A LOT of negative and offensive feedback.
Riiiiight. That's another of those really dumb things. Used as an excuse to take drugs, have unprotected sex and destroy themselves physically/mentally because basically "if you don't do it in this life you won't have a 2nd chance" or something.

I love those pictures that make fun of it.

I also hate Swag

You know I'd rather see people dance Gangnam Style it's much funner and as stupid as it looks it's not as stupid as the overuse of YOLO and SWAG - and all the other ignorant bs.
