Macro Dyson Sphere

I was researching upon this for a while.

Do you think it is possible to create a Dyson Sphere? Do you think our world could be inside a Macro Dyson Sphere?

The energy satellites..?

The idea is that assuming the Earth is making full use of all the Solar energy that falls on its surface already, but still needs more, a cloud of satellites around the sun would pick up even more energy and (somehow) "beam" it to the Earth to supplement the amount the Earth is already getting.

I have to wonder though- that much energy usage would probably be detrimental to the planet's climate just from the heat being radiated by whatever is using all the energy. Maybe if we were building starships in orbit it might make more sense.
If you're talking about the sci-fi standard of a solid spherical shell, it's probably not a practical thing to do, for all the reasons given in the wiki article.
Sci-fi stories and movies that make use of such a construct gloss over those practicalities for the "zowie" effect, but actually building one would require finding solutions to them, which isn't likely to be worth the effort.

Perhaps a "Ringworld" structure would be more practical, but even that has its problems.

The original idea of a "cloud" of solar energy satellites on the other hand might be a feasible project- someday.
I missed out on those books .... but yeah, i wonder if that is a possibility.
I learned about Dyson Spheres from reading the Halo books. Good read. But it would be cool if we could create these.

EDIT: Wrong type of Dyson, still awesome though.
Oh, if you read Halo: Ghost of Onyx and Glasslands, I think i know what you are talking about.

The one i am talking about is much bigger, maybe encompassing planets with a star in the middle.

All I can say is that it'd be pretty awesome. I don't even know what we would need that much energy for though.
