Windows 8 and Resolution

Hi. I just recently got a new laptop that runs on Windows 8. Is there a way to disable the annoying "start menu" button, because it's right next to my Jump and Pick up keys in Maple, and it's extremely inconvenient to accidentally hit it while training.

Also, while I'm playing Maple sometimes my screen resolution drastically changes for seemingly no reason. It'll become portrait AND mirrored and the resolution will be at the lowest setting. Then the screen will just continue to flash between black screen and maplestory. Maplestory then stops responding so the only solution is to wait it out and try to close it, then try to change my resolution back to normal with flipped controls or just restart my computer. Another extremely inconvenient process to go through. Is there a solution?

Thanks

I'm curious to know what laptop you have. My best guess to as to why the screen and resolution are having that problem is because of a buggy dual graphics interaction. If it is, then it would be possible to apply a fix that can allow you to play Maplestory fullscreen.

as for your second are you playing maple in full screen? If you are, you should play windowed mode with maybe the smallest resolution possible for that game which is 800x600 i think and see if that does anything

edit: Also since your comp's new try updating your drivers & see if that does anything
Thank you

I bought this laptop for computer drawing purposes. I just happen to play Maplestory on it at the same time. No I'm not going to build a desktop computer to play Maplestory.

There probably isn't a way to disable the start screen, it's just annoying and I never use the start screen anyways.
I'm more concerned about the resolution errors because they have no reason to be happening. Why is Portrait Flipped even an option for resolution?

Try running maplestory as administrator, if that doesn't work then run it in compatibility mode.

Unfortunately I don't have windows 8 so I can't really help you with the start menu button.
