A New Years Miracle

My faith in humanity has been restored after what happened over the last 24 hours.

So I was Ubering home from my buddy's New Years Eve party last night, and I got the Uber driver to go through the Tim Horton's drive-thru because I was craving an ice cap, mind you I was extremely drunk at this point. All I remember was taking out my wallet to hand him the cash to pay for the ice cap, and I remember having the wallet on my lap. He drops me off and about 10 minutes after I get inside I check my pockets and I notice that my wallet is missing.. I spent over an hour checking the driveway making sure I didn't drop it when exiting the vehicle, I checked my entire house and garage. I knew I didn't leave it at my friends since I knew that I had my wallet when I paid for my ice cap so the only explanation I could think of is that I left it in the Uber.

I open up the app and there was an option for "lost an item" so I clicked it and it connected me with the driver. I told him how I lost my wallet and how I must have left it in his car, he was acting very sketchy as if he didn't want to look for it and kept saying he didn't have it and he kept hanging up on me. This was a red flag and I immediately figured he stole my wallet because I had over $300 in cash in it. I was stressing out because I had everything in their.. My bank/credit/health/sin/drivers license cards were all in there, I even had my swipe card for work in there and I was super angry because I thought the Uber driver stole it.

The Uber driver refused to check his car again and I even offered to drive to him the next day to look but he was being really weird about it which raised my suspicions even more. I tried to make a complaint through Uber but it's pretty much a dead end, I got a reply basically telling me that it's his word against mine and they can't do anything about it. I even called the cops and all they told me to do was fill out a complaint form online and they were pretty useless as well.. Next thing I know I get an email from Uber saying if I contact the driver again then they'll close my Uber account for harassment.

I go to bed extremely upset because this was a brand new Calvin Klein wallet that my girlfriend had gotten me as part of my Christmas gift and it had all my stuff in it, I wake up thinking that my wallet is gone forever. So I'm in the kitchen and I hear the sound of the mailbox closing and I can kind of hear someone by the door. I go to look and there's no one there.. But guess what was there? My wallet hanging out the side of the mailbox. Someone had anonymously returned it. I don't know who and I don't know how or what happened to it, but someone returned it! All my cards were in there but they did take all of cash except they left me $20 lol.. To be honest I wasn't even mad about them taking the money, I was just really glad I didn't have to go through the hassle of replacing all my important things.

All in all I'm a happy camper now and my 2017 went from a crappy start to a good one. Feel free to share your own stories of losing your wallets if you've ever been unfortunate enough to be in a similar situation.
