Because it helps to denote a deep introspectiveness that the industry loves to pander.
Cause that's the chill seat.
cuz the best spot is next to the window
Cuz they're all the same characters
It creates greater opportunity for situations to occur like something appearing from the window, the teacher calling out to the student daydreaming or to avoid the attention of the whole class when characters interact with one another. Also, camera angles focused on the character can be viewed via the exterior window thus making them seem more important than other characters in the anime.
So they can stare out of it?
