My .exes wont open

any time I open an .exe (MS launcher, TF2, many others [not just games]) nothing happens.

I see the little spinning "loading" circle, and nothing comes up. No blackscreen, no error message, nothing.
This is happening lately and it doesn't apply to all applications.

Why is this happening / how could I fix it?
I looked all over the place the only thing I could get were registry editing solutions and that didn't seem to work.

help me please, I can't get anything done on here c:

*edit: I am admin and even with that, "running as admin" doesn't work.

i'd assume its a hard drive thing.
AFTER YEARS of usage, its probably filled with fragments and broken registry.
So i guess it's taking a while to search for all the files associated with the .exes and to finally compile them all together to launch.
Similar to how it takes a good 10mins on an old Desktop to open a new msinstaller.exe [file size too big].

You can try installing games on another external hd and see if that loads faster.
otherwise you can try desktop cleanup + disk defragment to clear/tie loose ends.

DNS would only affect things that use the Internet. Are the problem programs all Internet related..?

Also, even if it was a DNS problem, you should get the opening screens on the programs, up to the point where the program tries to connect to the Internet.
In the case of Maplestory gamelauncher.exe, you should get the screen with the big "PLAY" button and THEN it tries to connect to the Internet to fill in the blanks in the screen from the Maplestory site.

If the programs aren't even getting that far, it's probably something else causing the problems.
What is it that makes you suspect DNS problems..?

To be honest in the past week I have installed about 15 things, so I was wondering if there was a way to "fix it" rather than "revert it"

Did you make some changes or install something new soon before your problems started occuring?
