Maplestory Lagging

This lag is insanely painful. The game crashed twice during my chaos horntail runs on my 2x event coupon. I decided to move on to training. Barely any mobs are spawning and the game freezes every 20 seconds. No attacks are registering, I cannot open boxes or move through portals. What are they doing that just destroys the game and makes it lag so terribly? Its as if I have over 5000 ping...
