I still think "pen/pencil/brush" drawing with bare hands, rather than using hands on a mouse require more ability, I saw a bunch of epic pictures made in2 hours @ photoshop, whereas if it was done by "old meanings" it'd take at least 10 hours to achieve same effect =D

Also, drawing with pen/pencil requires much more ability...

I know how to use both photoshop and I'm an average drawer (In therms of hand draw).. and I can say for sure that drawing @ photoshop require less ability, just some knowledge on tracing, lightening and yeah ...
You don't use a mouse when you draw digitally, you use a stylus, which is a peripheral shaped like a pen. You are also not supposed to trace when you draw digitally, and I don't think it's fair to label the medium with that when lightboxes and graphite transfers encourage more tracing in traditional mediums. If you cannot draw well traditionally, you will not be able to draw digitally. For example, I have the ability to work traditionally and digitally, with very little difference in quality (colors are easier with digital only because there is no limit to the amount of medium you use, versus traditional you have to ration how much paint or marker or ink (etc.) you apply). Actually, it's also been in my experience that line quality is easier with traditional medium, because you can feel the texture of the paper and allow that to influence your linework, unlike digital where you're drawing on a plastic plate.

Saying that digital artwork is faster is a variable from person to person, because I will spend no more than half an hour on anything traditional even complicated pieces, while I'll spend upwards 4 hours on a digital image. It's different when you consider mediums, of course, because oil paints will take about a few days or even weeks to dry without any solvents added.

Either way, what I'm saying is that a good drawing will take skill to create, no matter the medium. To look down on someone's ability because they are using the current standard for their workflow, versus heralding mediocre work due to its primitive execution, is just asinine. Digital mediums and traditional mediums are merely two arrows in the same quiver-- it is actual skill as an artist that will show through, whether you're drawing on a Cintiq or with ink and a twig.
He was the first to request? I'd most certainly like to request in that case! My boyfriend's brother does this kind of stuff, he can spend hours painting tiny figures (not maplestory, but hey!)... they do look amazing at last, but I'd be too scared of breaking them, they would get locked up somewhere.

I agree with the first poster about the smile. For some reason I think about Corpse Bride.
I've noticed that people in basilmarket whenever its hand-made with clay, it is usually painted over. I use different colors of clay to make mine. And Sorry I won't be taking any requests right now, but maybe later

Doesn't necessarily have to be so, I have two different art programmes and can't draw that well even though I know about lighting and stuff. With a pen tablet one can achieve the same accuracy as with a normal pen on paper (I'm not so good at it). Not everybody who uses Photoshop/Sai uses vector layers!
I agree that Photoshop and Sai and stuff offer features that make drawing easier, like for example layers and different layer types, but that doesn't have to mean such artwork looks "less nice" than traditional artwork.

OT: I want to pluck that balloon and take it home with me. Also the Pescas looks nice!
Drawing in Photoshop is still done "by hand," even if the result isn't immediately tangible. And very often, work will start off traditional, then be finished up digitally.
Very nice, the pescas looks really good, the torso seems a bit thin but I couldn't really see it working any other way
