Not getting any stronger - Weight training help
Before i explain my situation I do have to say that i post here on basil rather than the bodybuilding forum because I've seen adequate weight training advice from people on this site. I've posted threads on the bodybuilding forums before and almost all the people are either trolls or give you smart ass answers to make you feel dumb and its a waste of time for me.
So with that being said, i started lifting consistently for sports in August and got hurt in February. I made some decent gains during that time.
Right before i got hurt this was the amount I could lift:
bench=165 x5 reps
deadlift=235 x8 reps
squat=225 x5 reps
I rested for about a month and been lifting consistently around the beginning of march. It took about 2-3 weeks for my squat and deadlift to be back to what it was, but right now im at:
bench=145 x6 reps
deadlift=275 x8 reps
squat=225 x5 reps
As you can see the only thing that has gotten stronger is my back, my squat has stayed the same, and my bench is a lot weaker. I would expect my bench to be at least back on par. I try to keep my nutrition the best as I can and I do mix up my lifts to prevent that muscle memory stuff. I'm not sure what im doing wrong because I've been doing the same thing as I did before to get stronger and it worked.
If theres any other info you guys need them just let me know. Thanks

your DL is 275 yet your BP is 145.
seems legit
1. If you have been making gains prior to your injury and feeling absolutely fine, and the only thing that threw you off course was your injury. Then its the injury. What exactly did you injure?
2. However you said you've been having neck pains since november. That means you've been training on an injured body this whole time. If thats the case stop whatever you are doing and fix that first. This is coming from personal experience, you do not want to keep pushing yourself when you have other underlying problems. It will just get worse.
So fix your neck, fix your posture, masture your form-- AND THEN start lifting hard. Otherwise you're just wastin time bro.
@yomamma1134
you might not be eating enough, getting enough nutrients, or you might be working out TOO much.
your muscles need time to heal before you can rip them again.
to heal properly you need to EAT EAT EAT. (try to eat healthy too, but junk food is better than no food)

i lol'd
OT: I'm curious but, back in august, how much could you bench?
I've been lifting for about 2 years now. gained about 20lbs. Could you give me your multi vitamins and protein you are taking?
I used to take animal pak but now im taking orange triad. As for the protein, its whatever thats on sale on the bodybuilding site that is a legitamite company. But so far its only been muscle pharm's combat powder, bodybuilding's website brand protogen, and muscle tech's phase 8.
But i really dont think its my supplements that are a factor IMO
@yomamma1134: I meant you can't expect yourself to grow stronger after starting to work out, quitting for an ENTIRE MONTH and then barely getting back on track after 2-3 weeks and then question yourself "Why can't I lift more than before?"
If you don't know the definition of common sense... I highly suggest you look it up.
uhh, I've been lifting consistently for 2 months now as it is currently the month of may. I stated that came back in march and its been 2 months since i came back on par to the amount i can lift (atleast for my deadlift and squat)... I find it strange and asking why that my deadlift and back muscles can get stronger but everything else doesnt. I didnt ask what the definition of common sense was, I was asking what you meant by common sense as in what am i not getting, but you already said it in your post.
@Phonetics yeah well i do have a neck problem since like november, it seems to be really stiff and I've tried stretches but nothing really helps (im thinking its more than a tight neck ofc). and i cant go to the doctor right now because im away for college.
@mujaras im a guy. I already do the regular workout and lift 5-6 days a week. p90x is mainly for weight loss and not strengthening.
@hooplah123 uhh what do mean by that common sense part?
@phonetics @ox0Shad0w0xo i already do change up my routines every few weeks or so. and im 18 if you consider that really young 0_o
first off, I hope you aren't really young, because if you're lifting all of that weight during puberty while your spine is still growing, then putting excessive weight/force on your spine can slow/stunt it's growth so you don't want to do that.
If that's not the case though, you might want to change up your routine a bit to cause muscle confusion as was already suggested. Also give your muscles a day or so of rest every now and then helps as well.
train in the mountains and you will become stronger.
More food, more rest, more volume
Im not sure what you want to know .
as long as you have proper nutrition , you will just get stronger over time.
Let's troll this person who trolls everyone else.
