help question about zak prequest part 1

okay so i just went into part 1 of zak prequest with another person in a party and we dropped the keys on the big chest.
only one piece of the fire ore dropped and i picked it up. we went bak outside and we both talked to the person but then only i got the fire ore when we both left.
last time i did the prequest in a party i remember everyone getting the piece of fire ore. did we do something wrong?
