PvP Rank and BP

I'm just curious, and I'm sorry if this type of question has been posted before o.o It might have been, but bear with me When you reach Rank 9 after pvping, you still have about 3000-some bp that you can trade in for gallent emblems and such. If I were trade those in, would I not only sacrifice BP, but also sacrifice my rank? Would I, in a sense, de-level in rank, go back to 10? Thanks for all comments and help
