I just joined a gay fraternity.
I had no idea at all. The bros seemed 100% straight during rush parties messing around with the female guests and such. The pledge process didn't even require me and my pledgebros to do anything gay with each other. There wasn't any online information about Gamma Lambda Iota either, so I didn't know what I was getting into. It's apparently a newly chartered local organization. I only decided to pledge, since my friends were doing it, and it's hard meeting people without joining a student organization at my school where there's only local fraternities and sororities. So after a semester of "intense pledging" (aka hazing) the brothers of the fraternity told me and my pledgebros that this is actually a homosexual fraternity. I'm really upset, because they only told us this on the last day - right when we crossed into the fraternity! Now I'm officially on the roster for a gay fraternity. I'm not even gay.

My country doesn't have a fraternity/ sorority sub-culture so this doesn't really excite me.

i've heard about it on tv and seen it around colleges but never really understood what it was

I think "Gay" and "Fraternity" are pretty redundant terms.
In any case, good job for doing such an idiotic thing.

But I'm pretty sure there's a process if you want to leave. Though you just wasted quite a bit of money.
I think you should stay; you might learn some new things. Plus, you might get more girls this way (if you're like that)? :S
