try kerning square, chryse, dead mine, herb town, ludi towers/clocktower, and maybe sleepywood, and good luck finding one
I was wondering cuz it seems they spawn more in certain maps like haunted house crows, and places in mayalsia
theres a reason people charge so much for primal
umm i think like any map lv30+ but they are rare
Everywhere. Literally.
Where there are lots of veins(ores) there are bound to be heartstones. Try the Robos/Master Robos map, it worked well for me, especially mining for wisdom ores
there are some tools beyond the gold tools that can inc your chance of getting one

On the other hand, I've been mining/harvesting Heartstones and GoldenFlowers ever since Professions started and have never gotten a single Primal Essence.
That's why they cost so much when someone does finally get one.
Like the others said, there's no real way to predict where one will spawn, it can be pretty much anywhere.
The bad thing about that is you can't expect another one to show up in the same map any time, since it's completely random what map they appear in.
All 4 of the Dead Mines maps can spawn Heart Stones and Gold Flowers.
I'd advise to get a lvl 10 of each profession and then search through everything.
I find them randomly Ex. sleepy wood where the copper drakes spawn. Herb Town
