Buy NX This Week And Help Japan!

Dear Nexon Community,

All of us at Nexon would like to express our deepest sympathy to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan last week. As a global company, many friends, family members, and fans of Nexon have undoubtedly been affected by these tragic events. It seems that every day, the scale of the disaster is growing, and we're very concerned about the health and well-being of those that have gone days without food, water, and other basic supplies. To do our part in the global relief effort, Nexon will donate 100 million Yen (approximately $1.2 million) to aid relief agencies that are helping those affected by these devastating events.

We would also encourage you to help those in need in Japan by donating directly to the following aid agencies:

The Red Cross
International Medical Corps
The Salvation Army
Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres

You can also help from within your Nexon gameplay experience. In addition to Nexon's donation, from March 14 through March 20, Nexon America will be donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of many of our in-game items to the Red Cross for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami disaster relief efforts.

For more details on the items that will help support these relief efforts in Japan, go to:

MapleStory
Combat Arms
Mabinogi
Dungeon Fighter Online
Vindictus
PopTag!

These donations merely scratch the surface of what is needed to support the overall relief and rebuilding efforts. However, we hope that in some small way, our efforts combined with the rest of the world will help ease the suffering of those affected by these tragic events and remind the people of Japan that people all over the world are thinking of them.

We thank you for your support and for joining us to help those in desperate need.

Daniel Kim
CEO, Nexon America, Inc

Wow 100%...

I hope they tell us how much they gain at the end of the week.

Sadly I can't buy Nx since they don't sell them here =/
lol praying for japan will do nothing. That's just another way of saying I care but not really. Donate to the relief efforts if you really care.
I agree that action speaks louder than words, but unless you have hard physical evidence that prayer does not work, then don't bother with that.

This doesn't make any sense. How is the donation made after you buy something in the cash shop? It should be made after NX is bought regardless of how and whether it's used. If I mts a work glove and spend the proceeds on NX how am I donating?

Why is the donation conditional? I feel like they're saying "We want to help Japan, but the sale of items in the game category is more important than Japan".
Finally, another excuse for me to buy NX.
this, i was actually gonna donate like $50 (i know its not much, but you know how it goes, can only afford so much)

so i'm seeing this as a free 50k nx LOL
1.2m is alot for nexon since their total earnings is about 100m? Even if 80% of that is items under the game section its nice to give a hand to Japan
Their annual income is 520million not including the $500,000 from ads.

This is actually good. I was planning on donating $20 to Red Cross, but now I can donate $20 and get something out of it!
Nexon just lost a source of income(Japan Nexon) so they decided to do a \"good dead\" to encourage people to buy nx. Anyways may those who perished rest in peace.
The phrase you are looking for my friend is \"good deed\" not \"good Dead\",

That aside i think that its a great way to support Japan (if thats what they are trying to do) but the donation of $1.2mill is nothing, that amount can only buy enough provision to support close to nothing. Sure the $1.2mill sounds like a large amount but in reality its not. They have yet to release the property damage that Japan took from this devastation add on top of that the amount of people that are now homeless, without food and shelter and who have lost everything. To the younger folks who are reading this forum would be like \"f3 dam thats a good amount plus all the money from buying stuff goes towards Japan as well\" well sure it does but I highly doubt that Nexon would be able to generate even 10mill from all their games. And $10mill is a good sum but not enough to do some good. The damage that Japan has taken in the past 4-5days is equivalent to maybe over $10 billion USD already and that amount maybe rising as the hours progress. The amount of damage that the earthquake did in 1995 was about $100 billion and its magnitude was about 6.8-7.3 on the Richter Scale and the current one now was about 8.9 on the Richter Scale which triggered a tsunami. Without the tsunami the damage from the 1995 Earthquake was $100billion and that was nothing compared to this one from friday, the one on friday had a 8.9 earthquake which alone could do about $100-200 billion of damage and on top of that a tsunami which would do about another $100-200 billion of damage.

So what does it all add up to: it all adds up to this --> the damage is going to be in the hundreds of billions ($300-400billion maybe) of dollars and the contribution that Nexon America is making is the same amount that you could expect from any country or company, they will all give out chicken feed to the people in desperate need.

No Offense to Nexon but you are like any other company/country, showing off by putting $1-2million when the damage is in 100s of billions of dollars.

To be honest, the title of this thread sounds so commercial.

Anyways, I would rather donate my money directly to the Red Cross than spend it for NX even knowing they would donate.

This is actually REALLY generous .
Like, From Nexon, I would expect "30%" of the proceeds, but 100%? That's fantastic .

I think this amazing of nexon to donate 100% proceeds from the sale of in-game items for 4 days long.
Wrong.

100% of the sales of items under GAME tab (cubes, gach, hammers etc). Which is still a huge boost, cause most wanted items come from the GAME category.
What does this mean?

All items "save those" in the Cash Shop's GAME category?

If we take out save those.. then it'd make sense that all game category in Cash Shop is donated to Japan.
Someone clarify
Save means except.

I'm really glad Nexon is doing this. 100% or not, I'm still so glad they are willing to donate to Japan.

Im sure in one year eveyone, except the families of ppl that died will have already forgotten about these tragic events that happened the last week,
100b of dollars is the stimate that CNN said about the cost of these incidents to Japan, bleh they can make that in few months by themselves just by selling video games.

@Aiirosama: Or they have a small speck of good under the flaps of evil that shows on the outside?

Giving away money is just handing the money to anyone, no one in particular. Donations are aimed at a particular company or, in this case, a country to help one rebuild or further build. There is a HUGE difference between the act of giving away money and the act of donating, even though they use the same verb of 'giving'.

Edit: Giving away money is also generally promotional or in a competition. Donationing can potentially gain plabicity from doing so, but it generally not the objective of donating.

@GeEmEs:

They're both practically the same in this scenario...i mean, when was the last time you saw nexon actually give out/donate to anybody? The only reason they probably did it was because something happened to Jms, and they wanted to maintain public relations for that...

Maybe they aren't as corrupt as I think they are...but whenever I think nexon I think corrupt buisness....bleh

...and 2x events don't count.

There is a huge difference between giving away money and generously donating it.

OT: I would buy NX, but they don't have NX cards in stock. Blah! The one reason my parents would let me buy NX (Even if I don't need it).
